I recall a woman died in a similar situation…she saw the bear and it either went off on its own or she scared it away but then she went back to sleep…bear returned and mauled her to death

*edit*

it didn’t maul her…it crushed her according to reports

In all seriousness, I wonder what country this is.

I don't think bear encounters are always the norm; otherwise, I can't see why people would continue to camp if it was that risky.

Maybe just sticking to designated camp areas in the park to minimize the chance of a run-in like this...

I dunno. Something tells me this might not stop this gentleman from camping in the future though.

I'm not a camping expert. But wouldn't it be better to camp in an area that maybe only has alot of Deer roaming in the area and not Bear/Wolves/Mountain Lions or other predators?

:yeshrug:

This...Ain't a grizzly bear within 3,000 miles of me. I'm good.

Chances are if you're camping in an Area with Grizzlies...You should be armed.

You must be black. 😂

Ideally camping wouldn’t cause anxiety if you’d see and hear other people around because bears and mountain lions typically avoid those areas.

But white people really need to be in isolated areas in the woods so they can “experience the true nature” of camping.

Like they have to, they can’t help it.
