reTIreMEnt: THE ALBUM (01/22) ALL DSPs
From another thread. Don't care if you don't read, but it's my objective, unbiased opinion. And has less to do with lyrics and albums than moves and life in America.
First Jimmy begging Tyrese for a job opportunity on ig, then Dame begging on ig, Cam w/thevideo green screen w/Nicki (who wouldn't even shoot the video WITH him, & mailed in a verse)...
shyt is unprecedented levels of corn.
All stan shyt aside, snake tactics, etc...How can you NOT respect Hov? Donald Trump, Bill Gates, (i.e. the white crackers most respect for their wealth & decision making) ain't get to where they are by NOT valuing money over most other things (except family and progress - ESSENTIAL relationships). Nah, they had to cut ties with other crackers they felt weren't a key part of the plan, or who weren't producing on a large scale to grow & expand their respective brands & pockets.
After all, America IS capitalism. Right down to the artists YOU do like and PAY FOR, whatever label that's paid from your purchase, THEY are CAPITALIZING (in a literal sense) on the fact that you listen to & support YOUR favorite artist. In turn, such artist gains capital, and is able to go back to the labels, merchandisers, companies with more leverage to negotiate more deals for MORE money. OR feed and support their family to a better degree. It's still capitalism/capitalizing. You pay YOUR money for the goods & services of others, and see no residual income in return from your purchase.
I say that to say, you can't escape capitalism at all. Not in this country. And for all the talk about how Jay's a shrewd, fukked up businessman...If Capitalism runs America, why is Jay wrong for knowing the ins & outs, and maneuvering accordingly? This world will chew you up and spit you out. This GAME will chew you up and spit you out. The racial and class barriers of this country and economy will chew you up and spit you out. Why front on a man who essentially did everything right? He's surpassed the people who gave HIM a shot. Should the student not aspire to become greater than the teacher? It's almost Godly that the man has made it to the level he's at. Regardless of who helped him, who's better, etc...Look how PATHETIC cats like Jim, Dame & Cam'ron are making themselves look. Ruining their "legacies" trying to cash out & get ahead. When they already have been close to the pinnacle of Hip-Hop, and rubbed shoulders with the greats, in and outside of our culture. Now being outshined by the 15 seconds of fame artists (the Young Thugs, Bobby Shmurdas, etc.) who will probably never get to their level or see the money Dame & Co. once did. It's the ultimate troll & ether. Knowing that someone who will never have what you HAD... STILL shines harder than you while you beg. And all you have are debts, stories and pictures.
Isn't it funny, that for all the bread, chains, cars, hoes, & property Cam, Jimmy, Dame & Jay had in the early 2000's...These other nikkas didn't save nor invest well. It shows in their music, the way they talk, and the type of moves they've made. I like all of these guys and at one point wanted them ALL to win. But not everyone deserves to. Be mad at Cam for fukking himself over during the 50 beef, and not putting out top notch music. Be mad at Jimmy for being a corn and thinking he had more star power than he does, once "We Fly High" dropped. Be mad at Dame for being too arrogant and selfish to make moves to put himself in the best possible position. nikkas is doing Love & Hip-Hop, reality shows, begging ass interviews and buffooning out here. Jay can do as he pleases. Not because he's MY GOAT or no bullshyt like that...But simply because he made the moves to put himself in a position to do so. Cam & Jimmy may have been street nikkas too, but at the height of the Dipset era, there was way more clowning & shucking & jiving coming from that camp than anywhere else, including Jay.
Now while Jay's set for the rest of his natural life, without having to ask for shyt...(other than help healing his wounds from Ether that are everlasting)Cam & Jimmy out here looking like fukk boys, and all their fans have left is a sense of nostalgia, and "that feeling" they had 10 years ago, when 5x purple tees and American flag bandannas with extra spray starch was in style, to tell their grandchildren about someday...
