Then at the shallow and "symbolic" level, Ob@ma fails as a symbol to change how people view black americans and/or improve black american's lives from being killed by police unfairly based on how racism is even stronger today and is running rampant while he is in office and the only thing he does to respond to the racist activity is to call black children thugs.

This isn't about convincing us adults. The premise of this thread is that Obama has been a symbol himself. A leader IS a symbol. The right wing hated Obama, not for his policies so much but because he is BLACK EXCELLENCE WALKING and stuffy old conservative whites do not like seeing that. Donald Trump IS also a symbol for white empowerment which is why he does so well with white men who feel like they are losing their grip on their country.

Racism is stronger according to who, the news media? They need to continually feed their viewers who subsist on negative news so of course they would give that impression but I believe racists have just become more vocal since 2008. Once again the arguments that I am reading presuppose that Obama has been a divider which is a right wing talking point. All I said was Obama is a good look for kids.
