I think you're stance on this is somewhat troubling, truthfully. Presidential candidates are living hectic and chaotic lives, and as part of their role, and our feverish expectation to hear their opinions, they must react quickly. You can't see "Let me wait until the facts come out" when a young black man is apparently beaten and abused, as a political candidate, unless you are a Republican.
I just saw the headline, felt a slight sense of unease, because it was so tabloid esque, but assumed it was true, and didn't comment for awhile, but no one cares what I think. I am not expected to speak publicly on civil rights issues. The facts at the time indicated a hate crime. So, they went with that. Understandable.
"Wait for the facts" is being too loosely applied, to a point where it is something of a dog whistle. And I am nothing if not a facts person, I don't read TMZ, or get my news from facebook, I read the charging documents and criminal complaints, when available.
