might have to post this quote on Facebook
I see nothing wrong with the quote in fact I agree. However with this quote you have to accept that the reverse is true too though, which I think a lot of Black folks are not ready to do unfortunately, especially when it comes to entertainment that we consume.
repthe key words you used was 'when all's said and done' that is the ONLY time truth will be appreciated
Going back to what we were talking about in that other thread, I think the point has been reached where we can disregard self-styled scholars like the ones featured in Tariq's videos. When I was a teenager I myself got interested in ancient history and all that through books written by these kinds of authors as did I lot of people I know...at some point though you need to graduate from that line of thinking and seek out real scholarship.
When you operate within your own echo chamber these alternative views of history may seem fine, but once you step outside your comfort zone and your views are challenged you run the risk of looking like a fool. Best to avoid that.

lol, I was gonna post an obligatory Burning Spear song about Marcus Garvey but something about this post caught me.
I like to be balanced about it in the sense that I put widely established info in one place and theoretical or not yet conclusive things into another place and try to reconcile in the middle. It was points in time where widely accepted things were incorrect. What do we consider to be "real scholarship"? Its best to just take everything and come to your own conclusions.
Real scholarship as in drawing conclusions based on more than anecdotal evidence.
I agree with the bolded.
i stick to my churchill quote, "history is kind to those that write it."Reminds me of a Hitler quote, "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."
