I see nothing wrong with the quote in fact I agree. However with this quote you have to accept that the reverse is true too though, which I think a lot of Black folks are not ready to do unfortunately, especially when it comes to entertainment that we consume.

the key words you used was 'when all's said and done' that is the ONLY time truth will be appreciated

Going back to what we were talking about in that other thread, I think the point has been reached where we can disregard self-styled scholars like the ones featured in Tariq's videos. When I was a teenager I myself got interested in ancient history and all that through books written by these kinds of authors as did I lot of people I know...at some point though you need to graduate from that line of thinking and seek out real scholarship.

When you operate within your own echo chamber these alternative views of history may seem fine, but once you step outside your comfort zone and your views are challenged you run the risk of looking like a fool. Best to avoid that.

lol, I was gonna post an obligatory Burning Spear song about Marcus Garvey but something about this post caught me.

I like to be balanced about it in the sense that I put widely established info in one place and theoretical or not yet conclusive things into another place and try to reconcile in the middle. It was points in time where widely accepted things were incorrect. What do we consider to be "real scholarship"? Its best to just take everything and come to your own conclusions.

Edit: I forgot

again I have no problem with the truth, both sides of the coin are necessary from a argumentative stance. If truth is the subject at hand...then you go with that. If 'positive propaganda' is the discourse...you'd better have some of your own as well.

in some cases you have to look at 'who's truth' are we talking about once we step outside our own echo chamber as well

Real scholarship as in drawing conclusions based on more than anecdotal evidence.

I agree with the bolded.

Ok I see, and I'm not tryna deny there's junk scholarship out there it's a bad thing but people have to figure it out for themselves. But I don't dismiss it all, sometimes I just chalk it up to lack of more robust study in the field sometimes if the little evidence that's provided suggests something that's within reason. Like one person can believe Egyptians were aliens and I can believe Egyptians were from Ancient Ethiopia and got many of their customs there. One is much more within reason than the other even if it's much less acknowledged and generally put on that same footing.

Sound Reasoning
Marcus Garvey just telling the truth of propoganda. Has been used since BC and will continue being used in the AD.

Good quote.

Peace
