The problem with this narrative is that he's been relatively healthy for the most part since them compared to others favorite players that don't get the same scrutiny.
His main issue is what else he can bring to the table besides getting buckets, which was never in doubt.
Here's the thing, he did have a few healthy seasons in recent years, but as a 3rd option. There is more wear and tear when you are 1st option.
Him being one dimensional was not exactly what Denver needed from him as a 3rd option, but for a bottom conference team, his scoring is good enough to get them some wins.
Basically he's limited on what he can provide to a championship contender team. He'd pretty much need to be on a team where a few starting five guys would be very good on defense, to mask his inefficiency there. There would also have to be some good playmakers, because he's not good at that neither. Like you said, a one dimensional player.
