As far as I heard they were doing this as a demonstration because companies are buying up properties, and letting them go unoccupied when people need housing, and are willing to buy. They also gave these women the ability to purchase this house after this incident too I believe.

They won and are actually in the process of buying it now through a local non-profit (supposedly). Sounds like Libby Schaaf did a behind closed door deal with the company that owned it to get them in.

But is your parents home abandoned? Because that was the premise here. The corporation bought that house with only the idea of kicking people out of the neighborhood not even to sell it.

That’s cold blooded as fukk.

Yeah, that is cold-blooded.

One is currently as we are rehabbing it. But, it's has an alarm system now and in our old neighborhood -- so not really worried as we know everybody on the block and surrounding blocks.

But, I know a few people who houses were being fixed up or they took a break from Rehabbing and someone came in and squatted.

A year or so ago, I caught these White men in one of my mom's rentals -- brought a TV and a VCR and was set up watching TV. This is a all Black neighborhood - meaning they are bold AF. You have to be armed these days messing around with rentals.

Uhh yeah.

I just had too last month - when I was in Michigan visiting my mom.

I stepped in one of my parent's Section 8 rental homes that was vacant -- cause the next door neighbor told my mom he saw some lights on at night.

I went over there by myself - I told our neighbor to stand at the door --- and found two white dudes posted up watching DVD movies on the floor. Squatting.

They saw me - and only sat up.

I told them to get the fukk out my house. They said it was their house and recently signed the lease.

I just gave them a look and walked out - and waited for the cops.

I'm 5'2 and 125lbs - and was taught by my daddy to protect myself when I go into rentals by myself. I would have stood my ground - time I felt threaten.

Trust me this is going to start happening in a lot of places. The COL keeps growing at a ridiculous pace and salaries are not keeping up. Things are going to get worse and worse and worse.

Squatting isn't the move. I take it none of you have had to deal with one. Know two people who have and it's a nightmare mentally and financially.

so did Dr.Martin Luther King
The law in corrupt ass America shouldn’t be the metrics of what is right or wrong.
Anyway, I am happy they are doing this. Corporations are buying property and refusing to accept the locals coins to live there. The corps are a huge factor in gentrification. They buy home and raise the price where no one from the area can it.
Also these ladies are only protesting home bought by corporations. They are not occupy homes owned by folks in the area.

To reference Dr. King suggest you'll be able to explain how Black folks will benefit from their law breaking?

unless you're on some "fawk all home owners" view, which I would respect due to your consistency while disagreeing...tolerating/encouraging squatters will hurt Black home owners more if you factor in the popular neighbor-to-neighbor crime rates talking point. A talking point which frustrates me because it's often used to win in convos/debates, have the drop-the-mic moment and not often used to mold your views/policies to always support any efforts that will protect the majority law abiding productive community members first and only
