My argument was never that the games couldn't be entertaining, it's that the teams on the outside didn't deserve a second chance to make it in :manny:
NBA had to do something about last 15 games where teams mailed it in, they solved that. Might not be fair but money wise, competition wise they solved it

teams will still do it. The Thunder did everything they could to not be in it, because if they wanted to, they woulda been in San Antonio's spot if not better.

It reminds me of how baseball loved how when teams were tied after 162 games and got big numbers for a 1 game play-in and so they decided to do it every year. it causes it to be inorganic even though the point was to make divisions mean something again (to their credit it did what it was supposed to do). Now when they decided to expand it to 16 last year everyone hated that and the players railed against it even if it meant concessions on other shyt.

Overblown issue :manny:

And as it stands going back to last season, higher seeds are 5-0

But as much as I think it’s unnecessary, it’s here to stay so fukk it :manny:

Imo they should have just made the 8/9 seed best of 3 if they finished within a game if each other

i was 2 minutes away from throwing it in the bushes.

but it's fun if you get two teams or at least two stars like tonight.

problem is when you end up with a game like Hornets/Indiana last night.

i guess you take the good with the bad. :manny:

There will be a 7th seed one year and gonna have 2 bad nights, just hoping its not my team because then I will hate this idea lol.

It ain’t like a 7th seed is doing anything in the playoffs (this years lakers don’t count)

problem is the teams in contention trying to make the playoffs having opponents who are blatantly tanking.

If you the 10th seed and 2 games out playing teams jockeying for position at the top of the standings while the current 8th seed playing tanking teams that shyt sucks.

Opening the lottery to all teams is the only way to truly stop tanking

I am saying in a year where lets say they are 10 games over 8th seed and then have 2 bad games, that would piss the fanbase and ownership off. That would be my only issue and that is why I thought it was better off like last year with 8th seed only

Tanking is never going away, a play-in won’t stop that. Hell, the Raptors had a legit shot to make it and instead chose to tank.

Schedule being unfair sucks but you had 82 games, or in this case 72. Everybody can’t make it :manny:

Probably.

I will say though the NBA couldn’t have asked for better rollout, with having their 2 biggest stars out the West plus a marquee franchise out East involved. Should be interesting to see what the hype level will look like when that starpower isn’t there.

Acknowledging that the league doesn't want certain teams to be good is the only way people who hate tanking can be comfortable with it.

It really isn't that big of a problem. LaMelo Ball might be one of the most exciting players the league has going forward and nobody tried to lose games for him.

I still think the set up is dumb.

Let the 7 seed play the 10 seed. The 8th seed play the 9th seed.

Have the games played in two locations that are potential nba cities (rotating every year) in the future or play the games at big name colleges. Fix up the courts to have a neutral site and have play in game logo on the court.

Think if this year one of the play in games was at a neutral site in Vegas and another at a neutral site in Seattle.

The league has to hype up these play in games more. The league (which I blame some of it on espin) has done a horrible job hyping up playoff games. The NBA is good with PR and getting their message through with social issues. But they are horrible with promoting the game.

Hell the league doesn't even put the NBA playoffs or nba finals logos on the court like they did in the past.
