No. They just changed the rules to make it harder. If zone defenses were outlawed and illegal defense brought back so you couldn't load up against one side of the court, then iso ball would be back to being effective.
I'd much rather watch 90s and early 00s style basketball than the wack college version of offenses we see today. The thing that made the NBA game different and IMO better than college was the fact it was more individually focused and allowed the greatest athletes to exploit their superior abilities. Now its all about spacing as you said, every team is trying to get these stretch 4s. Back to the basket 4s are almost unheard of now. The game is all about 3 point shooting. Etc.
You clowns can pretend like its some better game but don't come here with some bullshyt about it being less effective inherently than isolation basketball. They just changed the rules.
Umm...yeah, its less effective today like I said. How many teams have won championships with isolation play saving the day? You think it's a damn shocker that Kobe Bryant won championships when he played with a team and system instead of hero-balling it up?
Isolation ball has NEVER been a recipe for consistent winning teams. High scoring regular season games and impressive scoring performances but winning teams? Hell no.
Even in the 00s, hero ball wasn't winning championships. Shaq and Kobe were a one-two punch and used the inside out game with Shaw being the offensive anchor and Kibe being the explosive scorer plus spacing for those two to work. Pistons and Spurs need no explanation.
Wade and the Heat is probably the ONLY year you could say a one an show ran everything but Shaq was important there too.
Isolation FOCUSED play has almost never been conducive to playoff success. It's why Kobe put up empty stats last year to get an 8th seed.
