This NBA season is like a really bad simulation on 2K

Todays "rivalries" are just from teams who happen to meet in the playoffs a few times

That's what NBA rivalries are. There's no true rivalries ala the NFL where you have rivals locked into divisions that you MUST beat to advance, and its an 82 game season so games matter less. But, there's certain players that just don't mix and that creates rivalries.

I guess David Stern and Adam Silver's plan worked to perfection. Look at the large markets right now. The goal was for smart management to trump market size. The Bucks have a better record than The Knicks. The Blazers have a better record than The Lakers. Atlanta has a better record than The Heat. Smart management is winning while the idiots in the large markets can't buy wins anymore. shyt is working to perfection.

Historically, that is not how the NBA bread has been buttered. But we'll see how this turns out tho

It does feel kind of weird but it does feel like the effect of the lockout and parity are finally taking effect

That said, I expect a lot of upsets in the playoffs. Would not be surprised to see a lower 7th/8th seed knock off a top 2 in either conference (probably more so in the west)

I'll be curious to see what the narrative is after a couple of seasons and how the ratings are. The Warriors at least are a team that seems entertaining though, but the lack of names if it has an effect on ratings will be interesting to see. You may have a fallout like when the Spurs had a title run 03-07 and people were complaining about the league being boring or no talent (which is absolutely not true nor was it last time) but it'll be interesting to see where the media spins it to

There is no "lack of names". Steph and KD becoming big name superstars. LeBron is still playing as well, so those 3 are getting the casual draw.

In the second tier of stars, there's an abundance of them, plenty of talent in the league to go around. If anyone was to make that complaint, they'd just be stupid

There are no upsets in the west. The 8th seed is gonna be OKC

Sure there's talent but I'm saying if Durant and LBJ and etc aren't competing and its just say Steph it'll be interesting what the perception is.

In as much of a 1st seed going out is perceived as an upset. No one would be surprised if the Hawks, young Warriors etc were to get ousted by the Spurs, Thunder or if the Surging Pistons carry on to the postseason or if Wade and Bosh get it together after all-star break, but still the idea of a higher seed going out after all the regular season guessing would be considered an upset in the traditional sense.

If the Warriors lost to OKC it would be :manny: it wouldn't be mavs/warriors shocking or grizz/Spurs shocking

I think given how well the Warriors played this season so far, it would be a pretty big deal still. Especially when Durant and Westbrook would have to exert themselves just to get in and there's still questions about Coach Brooks. Like I said not an upset in a surprising sense but an upset nevertheless.

the talent level in the league is at an all-time low right now which is why such mediocrity is ruling the day.
.

it takes a special kind of moron to type something like this

i don't know how you even managed to turn on the computer to type this considering you may be legally mentally retarded
