The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Sales = popularity

Downloads = notoriety

U need to be spoon fed breh? Meek mills breaks the internet when he drops a new mixtspe but sells like crap for example. If you say something shut critics down then your assuming the critics have heard it which they haven't cuz no one know about this. It was not about his opinion he claimed it like it was unanimous.
Even if critics love something or something sells a lot that doesnt mean its greatness is unanimous. Nothing is unanimous, everyone has their own opinions which may or may not coincide with popular opinion.

And anyway (I should have noticed this yesterday) @Big Mel didn't say anything about any critics. Stop being a menstrual Nas stan. If Big Mel feels like this is a better project than DR he has his right to that opinion.

I just played it today. I'm on spin 3 in a row. Just funny that all the cats who were screaming that if you didn't like DR it somehow meant you're incapable of enjoying reggae. This drops and they're quiet as church mice.
Talking bout critics right here...

Is this just a single or an album, I see no reason why you cant enjoy both Distant Relatives and this. If its an album though what is the name of the album so I can find it

It's an EP called 'Born & Raised'. And there is no reason why you can't enjoy both albums other than Distant Relatives being wack. If it were good, I'd gladly enjoy it.

It's real funny listening to y'all talk about reggae music. I try not to tell a next man what to or what not to like, that's why we are blessed with so much diversity in our music.

One thing I notice, is in dancehall discussions, there is a lot less bringing down one artist/song in order to big-up a next artist/song. DR doesn't have to be trash in order for S&W to be

considered good. Ask any true dancehall fan if DR is trash, or what they think of Damien Marley.

I'm not trying put down the S&W song, but as a real dancehall fan, that song is the typical cross-over, easy to understand, reggae song that Americans who do not understand wtf these

Jamaicans are really saying, tend to favor. And that is cool. But when u saying that this song is great and DR is trash, then u need to stay in your lane when talking about dancehall music!

Remember, dancehall doesn't limit itself to just money and girl songs. Some of the biggest dancehall tunes are about God, poor people, and upliftment. And when I say big,

I mean certain guy pulling out them gun and licking legal gunshot when those tunes play!

Yeah. And I prefer traditional reggae to a post Sean Paul best of both worlds attempt with all the trappings of bad mainstream production colored thru a dancehall lens.

I ain't tryna get my Lord Jamar on...at all. But dude... you are white.
You can hate on 98% of hip hop music like you do 24/7 if you want to, that's cool.
But you would never be allowed to speak on Jamaican music in public...ever.

Don't get beside yourself.

Who's gassing you?

Yo I would speak on Jamaican music directly in your punk face. Especially when 3 of the 4 artists involved are rappers and the other is lighter than me. Now get the fukk outta my thread you sissy.

Maaaaan, quit. DR is full of crossover leanings. Neither album is heavy on the deep chatting or toasting. Both are helmed by MCs. One is better to me. This isn't Supercat vs. Cutty Ranks.

And I KNOW Jamaicans who think DR is smedium.

And I know Jamaicans straight off the boat that fukked wit DR heavy when it dropped...it's all about tastes and opinion..all I know is I met far more people who liked it than who didn't.. shyt.. People who actually looked over it cause they thought it would be worse than it was and ended up loving it..
