Son that 'cant relate' excuse is such a cop out. 99% of people who are Jay-z fans, most likely including yourself, were not pushing weight in different states. As for losing people to drugs or selling drugs and all that comes with that, that is not some far off concept most people can't get. And I used to hustle too. Certainly not on his level but I've sold enough drugs when I was younger to relate to a few of the lines. I get it and I still don't think it's any deeper than Notorious BIG, Ghostface Killah, or any of those guys who went the same route.

As for substance, no one said he has zero gems in his music and no clever lines. He certainly does. That doesn't make him a deep artist. Jay-z has about 500,000 bars under his belt and you throwing out 2 or 3 doesn't really put up much of a fight.

Again...Jay-z himself acknowledged he didn't have much substance to his catalog and that's why you got Kingdom Come. You can't really argue when the man himself admitted it.

You can't deny Drake is an influential artist but that is mainly due to the style he brought with him into the mainstream. As an overall artist, I don't think he's done much to be christened a great. He has been good, but quite safe and not groundbreaking whatsoever. For the most part, I don't think he's made utterly trash music but at times nothing special very formulaic music.
