I'm having a hard time seeing what makes him hot. Wayne has crazy wordplay, Meek has Hot street shyt, Cole has some substance, Kendrick is a supreme lyricist...what's Drake got
He got the Wayne/Young Money co sign which told people to think he's hot. Without that we don't hear from Drake, and 99 percent of the frauds riding his dikk now clown him into oblivion, they would be dissing him and talking about the Jewish shyt, Canada etc, and all that shyt which I don't even agree with but that's what motherfukkers are like..
As inconsistent as Kanye is and as trash as he is sometimes, he is MUCH better than Drake for the sheer fact he HAS had some very good music and some very good songs, and has had much more substance in his work.

I don't know much about Drake, but I get the appeal of his music.
It's a bit soulless, but it's very well put together, production is very sleek, and pretty sounding. He talks about things a lot of people can relate to. And he does have Mic Skills.

Why does damn near every song on that new mixtape have them 32nd note unaccented hi-hat rolls? shyts annoying as fukk. I see dudes in that thread big upping the beats but they wouldnt even be worthy of a Coli beat-battle semifinal let alone worthy of a "top" artist

I like the hi-hat rolls personally from an aesthetic standpoint but I think they're WAY overdone. Dudes hear a style that's in and just run with it until it's rinsed like old china. I love modern Hip Hop production, but the samey approach does my head in a bit.
I hated Yeezus, but I appreciated the effort that Kanye put into trying something different. More should be motivated to doing so. Drake to his credit does get stellar production, and I suspect that his best work is ironically the one in which he has a bigger input with the producer into how it should sound. Marvin's Room comes to mind - as much as I hated the lyrics to that song, the overall sound and musicianship from an aesthetic point of view had to be commended - begrudgingly
.I hear you about beats - personally, nowadays I dig the FlyLo sound. I'm into that Future Bass shyt more than Hip Hop right now
