The androids weren't weaker, wtf are you talking about? The first ones were stronger than all of them except goku and vegeta. 16, 17 and 18 were stronger than them all.

Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo. That's all that mattered. No one does anything in the series except those three anyway (with Gohan sprinkled in). Piccolo was even with 17 he just got out-boxed. Goku and Vegeta were stronger yet fatigue gave them a disadvantage.
The point is, the Z fighters have been shook off weaker opponents.

Piccolo wasn't strong enough until he fused. Fatigue didn't beat vegeta, 18 did straight up. Goku had heart disease. None of them were stronger than 16, 17 and 18 off the bat.
