Because society keeps telling them that that's what they should be doing, meanwhile society hasn't even addressed poverty, education (and thus employment) opportunities, sexism, racism, etc.
My homie just texted me last Friday that he's having a kid. Now he's not married to his girl or anything but he has his own business and is doing pretty decent from what I understand. Also he's always wanted to start his own family and such so I'm like you know what I'm happy for you.
But there's the other side to this: almost all my other friends who have kids are constantly lamenting to me that I should wait as long as possible to have kids and that having kids is hell and that marriage is tough.
And I'm like...WTF...you ain't gotta tell me
I would think it very very cruel for me to bring a child into this world right now. I'm just NOW getting to the point where I'm enjoying life and being able to reap the benefits of my hard work. Why the fukk would I want a kid? Your life is effectively over at that point. When that shyt happens you need to start living for the child and not yourself. All your time and money goes towards making the childs life better than the one you had. Which is a noble endeavor but why do that right now? I want to travel and experience places and things. It cost on average like $200,000 to raise a child from birth to college and that's with insurance, public school, not dressing the kid in the latest and greatest, etc.
Chill breh..I'm 30 and I'm taking my time.
