That's still power though, that's still influence. It's a first step. That's because we are consumers rather than manufacturers in a Capitalistic society. Our 'power' isn't based on our capacity to create anything, but, to buy from those who can.

There is no power in that nikka. You don't have power to stop shyt. Only nikkas with semi power are elite athletes who are at the very top tier of their profession. No other nikka has any power whatsoeverThat's still power though, that's still influence. It's a first step.
That's not the point. Changes on a macro/large scale start with incremental small scale then when all those small changes are aggregated then they become large.
The Black community in the US has never had access to wealth EVER and have been under siege forever HOWEVER the behaviors of those Black people post-Reconstruction and during Jim Crow segregation was still on some get an education, get married, have a STABLE household with dual income and support so children can be raised in the right environment and add value to the community DESPITE operating under a system of white supremacy.
You have to do the simple things and controllable things in life right in order to take on the more challenging things in life. If the constant form of entertainment (replayed all over again) is about how you kill "nikkas" (which is supposed to be a term of endearment according to some ppl but I digress) , fukk hoes and other destructive messages in the micro level, then you have no shot at tackling the macro issues such as wealth inequality and systemic challenges. If you cannot pick the right partner in life who is not going to leave you and force you to raise a child/children by yourself, then how are you going to take on the larger challenges. These things are controllable as individuals.
That's why folks are attacking destructive entertainers with destructive messages because it is extremely harmful to impressionable minds and the culture overall. Am I saying that if Mos Def and Talib were on the radio 24/7 and was the only form of entertainment consumption, white supremacy would be over? Of course not but the reduction and elimination of destructive violent forms of "entertainment"definitely adds value to the community.
Your daily behavior and how you interact with other people matter and that's why ppl talk about vibes/energy. Just because you cannot see a direct correlation with constantly using a demeaning term and economic prosperity does not mean that the usage of that term does not have negative effects on our interactions and how we treat each other. I do not know about you but I am not in the business of demeaning and denigrating other people (especially those who look like me) even if I do not see a correlation to access to wealth

I don't agree with you at all, if black people collectively stopped buying from adidas, Nike, and Puma tomorrow and supported a black shoe company, people would sit up and notice. That would be a massive shift. We like to give athletes and entertainers sway in matters that we as individuals have the power to influence on our own. It will continue to be our downfall. There is no power in that nikka. You don't have power to stop shyt. Only nikkas with semi power are elite athletes who are at the very top tier of their profession. No other nikka has any power whatsoever

Consumers always have power of a product is being sold. You don't consume a product the creator goes out of business. We need to start somewhere. So being a consumer is power now?

Good post but it's BS.That's not the point. Changes on a macro/large scale start with incremental small scale then when all those small changes are aggregated then they become large.

As none are depending on us for sells. Only people who depend on us are Asians and Indians and that's where I agree with our power as a consumer. That's the only place but this mainstream shyt is for cacsAgreed. But none of these creators are going out of business..
Absolutely correct. Now the question we can ask ourselves now, is, can we influence through our buying power to get a seat at the table? I think so. Once there we can create. Hell we already create without a seat. I just think that's the first step we never reach as black people. Whenever someone tries to do it he/she is assassinated and we scatter.Agreed. But none of these creators are going out of business..
Good post but it's BS.
Why I say that is I speak to LSA posters and women all of the time. Some from that era. They hated the fact they had to get married to someone like that and how it was. You won't find a single female on LSA to say men was better back in the 60s compared to us who say it all the time in terms of women. Then you have the times we were in. The American needed a large working population so the media encouraged families and marriage. The COL was much better. Women had no choices. It wasn't like this is just something we did and we can easily go back to as women for the most part hated it.
So what you are saying is stupid. It's feel good nikka babble. It's like reparations, the white population don't want to give it to us at all. Even the ones who do want to screw us in the process so they can really do what they want. At the end of the day, it's not win win for us even though it's owned and clear as day, it's deserved.
The reality is, we are not even a race. To be a race, you gotta be able to race. We aren't allowed on the track. We selling popcorn and beer to the white fans who's enjoying the activities.
That's still power though, that's still influence. It's a first step.
Your welcome fakkit"term of endearment"

Great intellectual contribution.
