Doc is basically implying that Woodstock 99 showed some of the roots of the alt right, Trump supporters, etc. I think that’s an oversimplification but you can definitely tell most of the crowd cheering for DMX and yelling “my nygga” will one day grow up to call George Floyd a criminal on social media
It's a giant reach. Woodstock 99 really wasnt that big of a pop culture moment

I think they're exaggerating how it resonates with today's stuff, but Woodstock '99 was a huge deal. Without Woodstock '99 and all the fukk ups they had, there's no Coachella.

Most of the acts there flamed out within 5 years of that show and if they weren't already legends, only a handful became that.

A bit of a reach. But, it was less about the event itself and moreso about the generational shift between the Nirvana era of rock fans to the angry and pissed off Nu Metal fans and how Woodstock 99 was a microcosm of all that

Also the concert promoter John Scher is a piece of shyt. Dude justifies the poor planning, poor security and charging $4 for water while blaming Limp Bizkit for everything
I just got to this part.

Fred was just guilty of not reading the room when other artists did, but even Fred was telling people in the pits like "if you knock someone down, pick them up, but y'all had all day to mellow out"

It was Scher's fault for booking them. Even Podcast 99 absolves Fred Durst. If anything they blame Rage more because they did their show, knew how fukked up shyt was, and as soon as their set was over, they gotta outta dodge. When shyt went berzerk, they were in NYC away from everything.

Wesley Morris brings up a very good point about Americans not letting go.

EDIT: as glad as I am to see Dave Mustaine ain't dead yet, wow he's :flabbynsick:

Moby really summed up NuMetal :wow:

Nu Metal was basically what Trap music is to rap now.

You have the few talented acts [Deftones, System of a Down, Korn] that came out of it but then you get a bunch of garbage no talent acts that follow a formula until it becomes a parody of itself.

Yea that shyt is crazy. Limp bizkit didn't make those people throw shyt at Primus but that's all anybody remembers is people crowd surfing on set pieces during "Break stuff"

Jonathan Davis from korn said Fred started that shyt too

I Love Ant,Flea and them Chili Pepper Boys but they kiinda Lit the Match after Fred and em poured out The Gasoline wit their Set considering they were the Closing Act that Night:hubie:
