Definitely watching this but one thing I’ll say before I even see it is that those white boys that were huge limp Bizkit and korn fans 110% became Trump supporters
Yup… cuz they really just wanted to be hard like all the gangster rap they was fed in the 90’s(nwa, tupac, ice cube etc.)…just needed someone to identify with, limp bizkit, em, Korn and the rest became they great white tough guys…til they grew up and had kids and became they fathers and shyt ….conservative Reagan bush supporting republicans ….shyt is brazy seein they id crisis in real time….so fragile mentally

I’m glad the Doc at least shed light on how groundbreaking and amazing that performance was. But they also talked about how awkward it must’ve been for the handful of black folks there to hear tens of thousands of white people scream “my nygga!” repeatedly
There was NOTHING groundbreaking about performing for a ton pf cacs and amping them up to scream nikka

No lie, TRL playing those songs every fukking day really helped. Nu Metal was our hair band era. If you fukked with it, you still like the songs, but everyone hopped on that wave and it got annoying.

The Doc talks about that. They claimed the shift from the progressive/feminist white male fans to the frat boy/misogynist male fans was caused by a mixture of Grunge becoming commercialized and people being disillusioned by it and then the final straw being Cobain's death. I'm not well-versed enough on the history of rock to say whether or not that was true but it seemed like they oversimplified it
kinda true. Pretty much all these rock eras fell off the same way. they had organic movements that labels took advantage of and tried to sign 800 acts just like it, but by the time those acts could get going, the movement itself was dying.

I did love that line about how white boys were mad because MTV was taken away from them and given to their little sister cuz that was true. The '90s really showed how culture can just change in a heartbeat. The fact was that for all the concern we give about hip-hop dying, rock really WAS dying.
