Gives you 5 years? What does that mean? You graduate in 4 and if you wanna stay an extra year you can? What's the purpose of this extra year? Do grades matter at that point?

I think it's similar to prep school here. The extra year is geared towards more exposure, getting grades up to qualify, getting stronger etc. most kids do it so they have another chance to impress coaches. He definitely didn't need it, but maybe they didn't want him to go to college and hurt his stock.

The school he was at is basically a basketball factory with classes. I don't see him sticking around long in the league.

You know what the more im thinking about it, the more i understand where he's coming from with this decision. This draft is weak compared to next years. If he kills his private workouts he could honestly be a top 3 pick. Especially since GMs are still thinking about kristaps. Its a huge risk but i see some of the logic behind it
