Actually except for Captain America I've seen them all in the theatre.
Simple question.....are you saying if you never saw that scene you wouldn't have watched Avengers?
I'm not saying it's not a nice treat for movie goers but all it did was put us on notice that the Avengers was in the works. The people that stayed after the credits are the same people that would've seen Avengers regardless. Trailers and word of mouth did the rest of the work to get people in the seats.
I would have but I'm not the demographic Marvel needed to hit. You don't do $1.5 billion off people like me, you do it off casual people. And you need every trick in the book to keep those people interested.
Avengers was never remotely popular. They were a tier 2 super hero team, at best. So Marvel needed every possible advantage, up to and including the post-credit scenes, to keep people talking until the next movie appeared. People went to "Ironman", seen the Fury scene, suddenly it's not just a movie, Marvel has a long-term plan.
All of this built towards "The Avengers". You seriously think Marvel is spending time and money making those scenes for no reason? As if they don't monitor every site breaking down the post-credit scenes, every Tweet about it? If you don't notice this kind of stuff just say that, but I don't understand the logic of saying "nobody cares about the post-credit scene" when Thanos was trending on Twitter for days after "The Avengers".
Thanos....let that sink in. These people had no idea who that even was until they Googled it, and it blew up on the internet after being on screen for 10 seconds.
When have you ever heard anyone say in real life "we need a Thor movie", "we need a Captain America" movie"? You ain't ever heard that shyt, because nobody cared about them, or the Avengers. Marvel
made people care by keeping the ball rolling. You don't just pull this level of success out of your ass, everything is a calculated move.
