American express is for people who can afford to pay off what they charge in one statement.I'm not one of those people yet so I aint fukkin with them

If you can't do this, then you probably shouldn't be using a credit card at all.

Credit/Charge cards will cause you to spend more than you would have if you used cash, especially if they are offering some kind of reward. If you can't afford to travel regularly, then you're probably wasting money trying to buy enough crap to earn points. The discounts aren't even that significant and again, you're only traveling once per year lol

Same thing with gas rewards. You're purchasing an extra $250 a month (hypothetically) just to save .20 on gas...which is probably a $5-10 savings at the pump.

It doesnt matter if you buy your house or cars with cash. :yeshrug:

They don't believe in saving up large sums of money around here.

i use my amex for anything i can and just pay it off at the end of the month. love me them points (even though they don't really amount to too much) and the concierge services can be helpful w travel. also gets some other travel perks like access to lounges at various airports. also, amex always has your back if you ever have a dispute after you charge something.

I got blue by AMEX since 2009 and it's been a good card and the card I use 95% of the time. AMEX the past couple of months has really been trying to push the Gold card on me though. But I'm a cheap fukk and hesitant to pay the $100 yearly fee. But like everyone else has said, if you're responsible with your credit, AMEX is a great card to have.

Great protection when used to make a purchase. 24/7 customer service but watch out for the financial review.

Had gold the fee was $125, didn't get the Knicks ticket thing so I downgraded to Zync. Same protection but only $25.

Yup!

That extended warranty if off the hook

Anyone In Here Have A Charge Card?

Ive Only Had Credits Cards All My Life, I Have A Excellent Credit And Ive Been Pre Approved For The AMEX Green AND Gold Cards

I Kinda Wanna Get One If It Means Its Gonna Help My Credit Score Look Even Better

And No Interest Is Nice

But Is It Worth It?

As You Know Theres An Annual Fee On These Things So I Dont Wanna Just Cough Up A Nice Chunk Of Cash Every Year Just To Have The "Privilege" Of Carrying The Card

So Are These Charge Cards Good Useful Things Or Just Some Lame Prop To Make People Feel Good About Their Social Status?

BTW The Benefits Are Real Nice Too, Especially When It Comes To Turning Your Points Into Flyer Miles
I was thinking about getting the gold one myself. I have the Amex Blue Cash which is a revolver/credit card. If I were to get the Gold it would be pretty much to flash to let people know you 'got it' like that. The Premier Rewards Gold Amex is way more popular than the regular Gold one but the annual fee is $175. The regular Gold is $125, the Green Amex is $95. You really need to do some spending to justify those annual fees.

Now if your scores are really good like you say they are and you're done to pay an annual fee, The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is hot right now. $89 dollar annual fee. Its a credit card so you can float a balance. Double miles on many categories, no foreign transaction fee, and its METAL! this card is considered neck and neck with Amex.

I've had a AMEX blue cash and a Discover card for probably about a decade now. I activated the AMEX gold card, but deactivated right before using it for a year...fukk paying the annual fee. AMEX blue cash is fine, Discover is probably the best card for cash back rewards, only problem is not every place accepts it. And :russ: at people saying don't get credit cards...you most likely don't know how to control your spending. And yes pay everything in full.

You should have a visa or mastercard in your arsenal for the places that don't accept Amex or Discover. Do you have the new Discover IT card or the regular cashback one? I had a Discover years ago, thinking about getting it all over again. I have 4 credit cards as of right now and I really don't need another

I received an AMEX TrueEarnings when I joined COSTCO a couple of years ago and I get a check of 3% of all my purchases automatically. I have not really done research on all the points programs but automatic rewards are cool for those of us that lose track of our possible rewards.

doesnt this completely depend on the job? I think most companies put a hold on their points and keep it
