*THREAD SPINOFF* What made you an atheist or agnostic?

I grew up Catholic and even as a kid I didnt like it but because its what my family taught me I stuck with it. I used to pray every night at because I almost died from a surgery i had as a kid. Then one day i just stopped as a teenager and went on with my life and realized whether i prayed or not nothing changed for the worse or better, life went on.

Then as I got older, went to college and started seeing things and how religion is used and the coincidences in history, it just seemed like total bs. All religions. Then i stopped fukking with it all together.

I agree with the 2nd pic but it doesn't come from the Bible. If you've read the Bible than you should know that the old testament was under the old covenant which was basically saying if you do this or that you're going to hell. The new testament shows how all can be forgiven and receive salvation through Christ because of the blood and sacrifice he made. Everyone sins and falls short. The church is what keeps things in black and white not the Bible.

2. Every religion believing they are the true religion (So are they all right or they all wrong?)
3. Religious people shaming non-believers
4. Religious people committing stupid acts on the daily and flouting responsibility because "God forgives"
5. If praying to God brings me blessings, why are the Haitians still suffering from that earthquake? Why do kids who didn't ask to be born get aborted? Do they go to heaven? There is no logic to religion, and people justify nonsense by saying it "isn't for us to understand."

all factors in my decision

add the fairy tale imagery to it and the ability for stories to turn into legends. something seen 2000 years ago would have a mystical attachment applied to it for the simple fact those back then didnt have any theoretical explanations for the shyt they saw. All these stories you see must be exaggerated

add the fact that church is a waste of time and serves as a place for black ppl/ at least the africans at my church to show out and stunt

add the fact that religion merely serves as a population control mechanism playing on ppl's fear of the unknown

Before if you asked me, I would of said yes. Now, no. shyt happens.

For me it was a series of events over time, but the final straw was having a life threatening medical condition. It opened my eyes and I realized religion was fake. People weren't made to worship anything and religion has misconstrued the purpose of life.
