kinda depends, really. Lotta folks don't like his work past the point that he moved from The Bay to Sacremento and started to get a little more... out there.

edit: see wally wisdom's above post. lol

Personally I like his last 4 or 5 albums the best

Thizzle Washington
Al Boo Boo
Ronald Dregan: Dreganomics
Genie of the Lamp
The Game is Thick vol 2 (least favorite of this bunch)
Da US Open (with mac mall)

I believe it's the opposite . . all of the appeal he is remembered for happens in those years

as is the albums you mentioned

A greatly overlooked album is Mac Dre Is The Name - it just has a really smooth laidback late-90's early 2000's feel

Check it out though - Mac Dre Is The Name is an anomaly in the catalog because it's a transition between his post-prison style and his Thizz years so check this out. It has such a classic sound

He did a song of the same title though, it's from the 1989 Young Black Brotha EP - it didn't make the LP for some reason

When I see that red Mercedes SL500 . . I hope someone took care of that :banderas:

Another example of him making a song with the same title as a previous song

"Genie of the Lamp" on Al Boo Boo - if you like to drive around smoking blunts and you're riding with a stoner chick who's kinda "out there" . . perhaps into rasta colors. Play this :youngsabo:

Then you have the title track of Genie of the Lamp

some day when I buy the rights to Mac Dre's catalog I will make sure that one is mixed in surround sound :banderas:

Don't Believe the Hype
I'm an east coast dude, born and raised in North Jersey. That said, I moved out west in 2011 - Oregon first, then LA for the last two years - and I gotta say: people really need to visit this side of the country to fully appreciate the music and vibe that comes out of this region. I'm awfully proud of growing up where I did - I love Jersey and NYC forever - but, for reals, this Cali living got me feeling like I can't ever imagine moving back.
