To be fair, Mendy’s boneheaded bullpen moves were evident last year too. We chalked it up as needing that year to grow.

It's easy to second guess bullpen decisions, but the reality was the Mets only had two guys you could trust in Raley and Diaz. On top of that no starter could get into the 6th until they called the kids up. Doesn't matter what buttons you push when your pen is overworked AND unreliable.

You make good points, but I lost track of how many times Mendy either pulled a starter out early (whenever they actually were dealing) .. or completely blew 2-3 arms in the pen when the reliever was on point. I just think he overthinks himself. I got a group text with 5 other homies that are big met fans too, and we bytched about it all year.

Read through some of Stearns comments on the off season.

Took responsibility, and if he could see the future, he doesn't trade for Helsley and Mullins.

Hopefully they come to a good number with Pete. Pete's bat makes up for the defense. They could create a real big 4 and sign schwaber. Once that contract ends move Soto to DH. Other than that, I want Diaz back.

McNeil, Nimmo and Marte can go. I also think we see Acuña, Sproat, Vientos plus others in the minors on the trade block. McLean is probably the only true untouchable followed by Tong.

I watched the press conference on YouTube. He took responsibility and put the problem squarely on the pitching and defense. Said his problem was he lacked a level of urgency. Interesting, I think that means he thinks he prospect hugged a bit too much in trade talks.

I don't think he would do Tong for Durran, but I wonder if he does Robert for Vientos. Maybe he tries for Shane Bieber

The thought process behind Helsley was fine. Mullins was a reach. I appreciate Pete and everything he's done, but I'm ready to move on. Don't forget his "defense" is what lead to Senga getting hurt.

Yeah, time to move on from all these guys. Focus going forward should be starting pitching, speed and defense.

I see a number of yall saying for Pete to :camby: but who are we replacing him with at 1B?
I feel like people expect a team to throw him a big bag this time around. It's hard to imagine who you'd replace him with via free agency or trade though. If his free agency goes the complete opposite of last year, I can already imagine the panic and hysterics from fans.

People are just frustrated and are ready to be convinced of a new look to the whole team because of the failure.

Trying to keep my stress levels down, haven't put too much focus on the baseball season.

Who are some SP the Mets can trade for during the off-season?

I didn't even think of the possibility til last night but it might be time to move on from Senga.

The contract is still pretty good even given how weird a year he's had and a team can still believe in the upside that he's shown.
I’m been saying Senga to Anaheim. Makes sense logistically. I just don’t know what the return would be.
Kodai Senga
Luisangel Acuña
Ronny Mauricio
Jeff McNeil
David Peterson
Mark Vientos

All of these guys I'm fine with trading for the sake of mixing things up.
Throw Nimmo in there and I’m behind moving on from these guys.
