I can't discuss with anyone saying Jeezy didn't have any impact on the game or saying that UGK and them created the sounds of today.Longevity is why it's pre-mature to label him legendary. How exactly is Jeezy a game changer? Trap music was sub-genre, before people knew who Jeezy was. It was a sound pioneered by rappers who dropped albums a decade before Jeezy or T.I. popped up on the scene. At most, T.I. and Jeezy were both influential in popularizing trap music. T.I.'s impact goes beyond trap music as at one point, people were looking at him as the Jay Z of the South. He wasn't even that big at that point.
In comparison, there's a lot of rappers out today that have been hot longer than guys from the 80's. I'm comparing Jeezy to the two artists that he's mentioned with. In terms of legendary status, he doesn't stack up to Wayne or T.I. Basically, his career isn't legendary just yet.
What I'm indicating by somewhat relevant is not sales or units. Wayne (I don't view Wayne like that, but doesn't change the fact that he does) and T.I. are rappers that get respect as artists. Their impact and influence are greater than Jeezy.
I'll put it this way, Wayne and T.I.'s respective 6th albums really put them on a different playing field than their contemporaries. That's where Jeezy is at in his career right now.
And the reason to why T.I.'s influence goes beyond trap music is cause he does singles with Rihanna, pop singles, movies, reality shows etc. All Jeezy does is trap music and trap clothes. Rakim didn't have as big social impact as T.I., never had hit songs etc you mean to tell me that T.I. and Wayne are bigger legend than him as well? Bigger than him, Eazy and Krs combined?
And another reason to why T.I. only gets mentioned in trap music when it comes to his album title is cause he made the "old school" styled shyt like UGK and them. It wasn't until he got Jeezy's joint Bang where one could hear Tip on what cats consider Trap Music the sub-genre. You can even notice the switch in the sound from Jeezys own music between 03 and when he got with Shawty Redd.
Legend my azz.
. . we'll see what their "legacy" looks like. Time will tell
they gon act like they don't understand u though....t.I had a album called trap muzic yea,but Jeezy changed the entire sound of the south, every nikka decided they all of a sudden would come out rappin like they wuz 1st graders in special ed over dark shawty redd sounding beats for entire albums....nikkas wuznt doin that before Jeezy proved u could blow and be respected as a rapper doin it......nikkas wuz on that bouncy flow and bouncy beats before Jeezy....truthfully Jeezy set the south back about 10 years with the impact he had...it ain't his fault nikkas copy and didn't know how to build on his style like he did.
...Jeezy wuz spittin if u can get past him sounding like a special ed kid with that delivery
but that shyt wuz original, the fact u can tell he got bars like he do today should be proof he wuznt that bad lyricallly, his delivery made it sound like he wuz slow as shyt....break down his lyrics and he spittin lowkey tho and had the wordplay and still do...fuk what y'all talkin about...
