This has nothing to do with trade. This has everything to do with censorship. And on the topic of trade wars, who do you thing is going to lose. China has been expanding it's global market share for decades. It's been increasing it's trade partnerships. The US needs China more than China needs the US. They don't need them for natural resources.
At the end of the day, The US traded IP for cheap labor. They saw China as too dumb to be a global power. China took that IP and not only learned out to build their own version, but they built better versions. The US prevented China from being part of ISS so they built their own space station.
The US, France and U.K. are pariahs. They want to keep the rest of the world "emerging" or "third world" and continue to dominate indefinitely. Countries are tired of the bullshyt. BRIC's will continue to add countries and eventually, they will have their own standard trade currency.
This country is being run by Baby Boomers, Gen X'ers, Racist CAC Jews and multinational corporations. They don't give a shyt about the future. They all got theirs and all they care about is keeping theirs. They are using playbooks from the 80's and 90's and none of those plays work anymore.
They banned Xiaomi and Huawei from the US market. And both companies are still growing, despite access.
The US is ill-equipped to compete with China. NAFTA and other trade agreements opened pandoras box. Decades of adapting. Now they want to reverse it with no real plan of action.
Workers complain about working at Amazon, so imagine how shyt will be at a factory with unions. Cheap products will be a thing of the past. Domestic vehicles are already over priced.
China is a hostile, rival nation we are actively engaged in trade and cyber wars with. China, a country that's damn near built on IP theft. China, a communist nation that's literally seeking to disrupt the global American hegemony. And think the US is worried about censoring its own citizens?

The problem for Zuck is that, the youth wants nothing to do with Facebook and because of it, he's stuck with an aged audience. What some also don't realize that the same can happen to Instagram, as it competes with Lemon8 as it is an direct competitor, which is made by the same people who made TikTok. He's trying to retain the young audience by any means necessary, which is why he (along with Elon, Bezos and Sundar) lobbied very hard on getting it banned.

Yeah your corrupted government don’t want anyone talking about their dirty secrets on social media no more. This is really what it boils down to. And then they take Tik Tok away, what’s gonna stop them from taking other social media platforms down just for talking about them?
