Since Obama the GOP always throws in a token who shoots up to "front runner" for like a month or two before they move on for real. Herman Cain, Alan Keyes, and so on.

I'm not one for Washington conspiracies, but man...I remember when Ben Carson was front runner for literally no reason. Had no policy plan whatsoever. Just getting up on the stage and carrying on and on about how he overcame this that and the third. Everyone on stage refused to ever attack or criticize him. It was almost sad. Almost as though they knew he was completely unexperienced, has no idea about anything government-wise (which he would confess in interviews at the time), and they know exactly why he's here.

I remember at one point they even went around the stage and everyone "congratulated" Carson for being the front runner at the time. For real.

And for no explainable reason--with no change to his style or demeanor or rhetoric---suddenly he's in 4th place a day later.

It couldn't be more obvious his candidacy...and I'm almost willing to believe his poll numbers...was all orchestrated just to keep the GOP field from being all racist white men. Again, I HATE conspiracy theories, and I hate suggesting them as a way to explain odd things. But only because this was so inconsequential, it's so hard to believe the GOP does not manufacture this shyt just for optics.

But as soon as he and Michelle admitted they experienced racism, they got accused of being racist. I’ve also noticed since Obama that white people will say almost any black politician should run for president. They really can’t believe a black man was that appealing to so many people. But as soon as he and Michelle admitted they experienced racism, they got accused of being racist. All the GOP wants is a black face to say, America isn’t racist, black people are lazy, and look at me, I made it.

Once I saw the Tea Party pop up literally within the same week Obama was elected and Fox News going hysterical promoting these glorified klan rallies I knew that was the beginning of a real white supremacist movement coming to the GOP and some real white supremacist political figures coming into prominence.

But the crazy part is I remember all the cooky Tea Party figures that the right wing media was going after.

Including Tim Scott himself, but I remember Scott Brown, Rand Paul, Christine O'Donnell, Marco Rubio, Allen freaking West if anyone remembers that capital c00n, Michelle Bachman....

I thought these people were completely fukking nuts...but they are geniuses and honorable stalwarts of American law and society compared to the MAGA terrorists. How much the right wing has changed in just ten years and two failed elections is amazing.

I honestly think Tim has allowed his party to convince him he has a shot, just like Byron Donalds probably thinks he had a shot at speaker when they used him against McCarthy, talking about we want to elect the first black speaker of the house.
