27-35 were under-age when aaliyah was peaking.

adults generally werent paying aaliyah any attention like that. she was kid chit for the most part. so yea, people who are now 28 & over that were seriously into music back then arent really holding her in high-regard either, as evidenced by the posters that have been droppin that napalm bomb on you all thru this thread.

its funny because yall turn your noses up at ciara, but shes basically what aaliyah was in the '90s. the difference is, yall were just wiser & more astute by the time ciara came out.

HARSH REALITIES.:sadcam:

which coincides with the dissappointment in the album sales. dont play dumb. you always play stupid when you feel like youre on the losing end of an argument, especially when it comes to your holy grail of timbaland, missy, aaliyah & the neptunes.

and people already shut you down about this same exact chit in that "aaliyah = ciara" thread, so im not even gonna bother with you on this anymore.

your age argument doesnt work on me seeing that i was off-the-porch before you even got into music like that. and aaliyah herself already told you what it was. what was the name of her 1st album again?

and the only point you made in this post is in my favor. thanks.

we resorting to insults now? i thought i was finally beginning to win you over in recent weeks. thats cool. i wont even chit on you girl.

i like that sassy chit.:jawalrus:

saved by the bell has a biopic?

:lupe:

man. yall need to quit with the bolded. yall exposing yourselves. the only chicks that wanted to be like aaliyah were mostly the corny girls and/or the ones that stayed in the house. and even then, monica & brandy had more pull over most of them too.

lol @ aaliyah having some of the most memorable slow jams in the '90s. yall on some Nick Jr chit now.

this monstrous timbaland run that you speak of is POP MUSIC. not r&b.

yall need to stop.

:comeon:

i shut you down on some of this stuff already. you ignored it, and now youre trying to comeback and repeat this stuff a few pages later? youre better than that bruh.

and dude is right. sure, she didnt intentionally hop on the bandwagon, so the way dude said it was kinda harsh. she gave them their 1st major look on the album tip. but by the time her album blew up, they already had bigger stuff going on. AS I SAID IN THE PREVIOUS RESPONSE, WHICH YOU CONVENIENTLY IGNORED.

then you bring this selena chit back up when dude you were quoting had nothing to do with that. you shouldve quoted me. and selena is bigger for her people. shes not for us.

you need to just admit that you had a crush on her and like her beats, cuz thats all i took from this post.

A disappointment in a single is just what it is: a disappointment in a single. When you have an album that debuts at #1 with 187K but the lead single stalls at #50 something, that's pretty major and you want to follow up with an even bigger single to maximize the sales. "More Than A Woman" was going to be the next single, but radio was already on "Rock The Boat" right before the crash. The only one playing stupid is you.

I've heard nothing but negative reviews on this and people who watched it even said it was trash.

But lifetime pulled records numbers.:russ:

I blame it on the amount of press they gave it before it aired, they literally fueled the fire and people tuned in just to see how bad it was.

I've seen this quoted places but no one posted a source yet. Not saying I don't believe you because a million viewers can be a record on that channel so I don't know..

and that's the funny shyt about it...nikkas wouldn't be caught dead saying this shyt about Janet...yet Janet NEVER had a strong voice...and ALWAYS worked with dope producers herself...now im not saying Aaliyah was on Janet's level at all...but some of the criticisms these nikkas is tryna throw at her are retarded...

:wtf:

janet was indeed criticized for this back in the day. and people were saying that she was living off her production, writers, etc. thats why she started writing & co-producing in the '90s.

...................

Aaliyah was an exention from Janet, with Janet being the tree, Aaliyah as a branch with her own twist and the rest of these current acts as leaves with their own twist and that includes Beyonce.

:wtf:

theres absolutely no correlation between aaliyah & janet. NONE.

whats funny is, yall talking bout beyonce but beyonce IS INDEED this generation's janet jackson.

she had her own style that alotta females gravitated to...and if Missy died tomorrow in a tragic accident...yes..I believe they would make a movie about her...and she would deserve one...

aaliyah never had her own style. she never brought anything new to the table. even the lil wave i gave her credit for(just to be nice) really wasnt original either.

females gravitated to what? that chit was already in.

Ehh,i dont know bro,yea tlc had been in it 10,but aaliyah had been in it 7.

tlc was older, inactive, doing the fam thing for the most part, etc. and their last tracks up to that point were distant memories. they were throwbacks by then breh. just like practically all of the artists they came in with.

and if aaliyah hadnt passed away, she wouldve been FORCED into the old school category herself, after she finished taking that flop.

son at this point...u shifting goal posts and im not gonna entertain it any longer...peace..she sold more gradually..Out the gate..any way u wanna put it nikka...she sold more...

how did i shift goal posts when i just repeated what i said earlier?:dwillhuh:

and i dont care about sales anyway, so i wouldnt waste a goal-post move on no chit like that. i was just responding to what you said.

yea they def set a record. i dont even need it to be confirmed.

its obvious that the vast majority of people complaining dont watch that channel. otherwise, they would know that it was a standard lifetime biopic.

only gripe i have is with the horrible casting, particularly missy.

and once i realized that this was a lifetime flick, i didnt even have a problem with aaliyah getting a biopic, cuz this movie was perfect for that channel.

now vh1 doing a flick and all that? nah. she doesnt deserve one of those. theres plenty of other people that could do a flick on.

nikka..if they die tragic deaths they will get one...right now their stories arent even finished cause they still sing and still alive and well..god damn man u cant be this dense...Aaliyah was one of the main artists that put Timbaland and Missy's talents on the forefront...ALOTTA females wanted to be like Aaliyah while she's alive..noone is shytting on the artists u named but like I said..not many popular singers die tragic deaths at such a young age like Aaliyah did...Aaliyah was just on 106 and Park giving away her car to a contest winner right before her death..she just finished a movie..and was gonna be a major role in The Matrix series...she was loved...she had classics in her discography..and helped kick off one of the biggest producers and female rappers in the history of the genre...Timbo and Missy...u dont fukk wit her like that..fine..but stop wit this shyt already cause she's a dead FEMALE my nikka and to hate on her this hard as a man is some other shyt..who gives a fukk if females look up to her..seriously..who fukkin cares..

this place is a joke sometimes.:heh:

Xscape? :laff: Just stop nikka. You don't even believe the shyt that you're typing.

And Beyonce is nice but she has the GOAT promotion team and marketing.

Yes xscape. Her fashion style, sound, all based off them. nikkas overrated the fukk out of ppl when they died. How come nobody mentions her albums was flopping before the crash

and for everybody talkin bout Beyoncé...Beyoncé damn near owes her solo success to Amerie...she stole her shyt TWICE...Amerie released All I Have(which is a personal classic to me by the way) and Beyoncé stole her producer Rich Harrison and replicated that sound for her Crazy In Love album...then Amerie switched it up for her next album wit that DC go go style and what did Beyoncé do?..turn around and stole that sound as well for her B Day album....even stole some of Amerie's vocal stylings...

Aaliyah was a minor success when she dropped. She was not on the mary j, brandy, etc. Then missy and timb made her hot, not the other way around. You forget he did shyt for 702, genuine, etc? LOL@beyonce stealing from Amerie. That bday album was filled with swiss beats crap during his resurgence in 06
