Dre is GOAT, but "Forgot About Dre" came AFTER "Jigga What, Jigga Who" and Eminem even crafted his verse after how Jay flowed on "Jigga What".

In terms of Tim doing something like "Phone Tap" or "Xxplosive", then Lloyd Banks' "I'm So Fly" is an example of that.

I put Dre over Tim and any other Hip Hop producer, but he has less range than Timbo.
Wooo I forogot about I’m so fly ... what a slapper :blessed: ....took Dre’s whole kick drum sound and everything ...

But yeah I just don’t see the range point personally ... I mean Dre has been making slaps in every era of Hiphop music Im talking since 1984? Music changed so much just from 84-94 then from 94-04 then from 04-14 and he’s been a relevant participant in every era ...that’s range ... you must be talking about the pop records?

I'm talking about Hip Hop records. Timbaland has had MC's rhyming over Punjabi Bhangra inspired beats, Country meets Hip Hop concoctions, 8bit video game samples, you name it. Tim's been a relevant participant in 3 eras (90's, 00's, now).

Dr. Dre and its not even close

Dr. Dre got his hands on the biggest rap stars from the 3 decades as far as production is concerned

timberland played out, that new shyt he got with justin timberlake sound the black album era shyt

Timbo still got some heat rocks that stand the test of time
but as far as catelogue it's not even close with Dre, chronic 2001 shyt on project he ever was apart of

Dre had better rappers, but Timbaland's instrumentals hold up more and don't sound "old school" even 20 years later.

Dre's has more :blessed: moments because he had better complete songs. But instrumental wise, Tim's was more advanced and didn't rely on samples as much.

Dr. Dre hands down. His ear for engineer was so good 20 years ago everything he's done still knocks!

Timbaland has made classics and bangers sampling everything from Egyptian Pop stars from the 60's, Fela Kuti, the Spiderman theme, the theme to I Love Lucy, to sampling Bjork (breh went on to produce records dor Bjork). Dude made hits making a percussion out of crickets and cicadas. When it comes to range and versatility, Timbaland is leagues ahead of Dre and I rank Dre over Timbaland. Timbaland can go from producing #1 hits for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado and then take it back to the gutter and produce a record like "3 AM" for Jeezy.

Even within the realm of Hip Hop, Tim produced artists from all over ranging from Jay to Nas to Luda to Cee Lo Green to Snoop to Fabolous to Game to Pastor Troy to programming for Kanye. None of it sounds the same. He's given Middle Eastern influenced music to Jay. Had a Louis Armstrong inspired sound going for Cee Lo on "I'll Be Around". He gave Pastor Troy a drum line inspired beat with "Are We Cuttin".

Dre is miles ahead of Timbaland in two categories: catalog and the quality of the Hip Hop artists Dre has produced. Hip Hop wise Dre is better for the reasons stated.

In regard to whose music aged better, it could go either way. Both have music that sounds as fresh today as it did when it dropped. Both are still two of the most influential to ever do it. Both have music that is dated. Both have music that is wack (not even "Ghetto Techno" is as wack as Em's "Just Lose It" or 50's "Fire" though).

Think about it. You really can't play any Timbaland beat and have a yungin say "that sounds Old School." You can with Dre's. Not saying it's better, but, Tim's stuff has never aged.

Aaliyah's album came out 22 years ago and could drop tomorrow.

This.

There's artists rapping over nearly 20 year old Timbaland beats that weren't that huge when they dropped. A couple of years back Missy Elliott was performing 15 year old songs alongside Katy Perry and people ate it up like these songs were brand new.
