I have a problem with the recent proliferation of articles about how women and non-Asian minorities are under-represented in STEM jobs, as if they were being discriminated against.

pretty much, like i was saying in the silicon valley thread a while back, if there was widespread discrimination against blacks that would actually be a step up, that would mean we black people are in the mix

right now black people arent even in the mix, there arent enough black people to discriminate against

People should study whatever they want, I'm saying that finance majors or other majors are not the crux of the issue , it's absurd to suggest that hiring non engineers is a solution to lack of diversity

The only real solution to the lack of diversity is for black people to shift more toward stem degrees, any other solution is frivolous

I don't think you have a full grasp of the situation

i am not denying the lack of blacks in STEM. Before we address filling highly technical positions with blacks, how about filling in areas where there are a lot of qualified blacks available. You telling me there are no qualified black finance or marketing majors that can't work at twitter?
