Why can't they make more money from their label???? :dwillhuh: They streaming the shyt out of these artists songs and they getting pennies where as Tidal offers high quality music with more money to artists.

You should be supporting that shyt wtf is wrong with yall. fukk these record companies breh.

But it's not because the music still belongs to the labels. When these artists decide to pay the recording costs, studio time, all of the writers/studios/engineers and the $$$ to clear the samples out of pocket, then the labels will be gone. When this happens, streaming services are just going to charge for "distribution" fee, then artists will see more money off sales. Remember, artists have NEVER made money off of music, only the labels have.

If it was really about the tech, everyone would have a Droid........ Its about the brand baby.....
I tried to say that earlier but cats acting like that has nothing to do with and or that everybody thinks apple is the best tech company. Also couldn't believe cats act like seeing a lot of famous/known people with their products similar to beats don't have any influence on people on top of these things mainly being the cool thing to have.

Exactly. The iPhone is a status symbol and having Apple everything is a cool thing to do, and it's easy because it requires no exploration and everyone has one. It starts off with tech and then just becomes a brand.
At least some on here get it.

That's why I don't think as is that its a sound long term business model.. The concept of record labels whether brick and mortar or digital is regressive..

I think its telling of the companies shareholders are in their late 30s, 40s and 50s...

My daughter and her 14 year old friends have never lived in a world where music wasn't free.

That's a whole generation that needs to be convinced a dinosaur model is in their best interest.. I feel like Pandoras Box has been open and its too late.. It's almost like bringing back prohibition after 20 years of a good party with free liquor..

The fact that this was framed as a history making revolution for ALL was pretty naive and silly..

You ain't gotta lie to kick it my n1gga

:yeshrug:

outside of this, you're kicking real shyt.

Truth be told, if you're under the age of 50, you've always lived in a world where music was free..... It just so happened that before 2000, it was much more time consuming to get things for free.....waiting by the radio to hear your favorite song, and having a blank tape ready, with enough room to record it..... or having to buy the cassette deck with "Hi-speed dubbing":heh: and it taking upwards of 25-30 mins to copy something....and the perils of decks eating tapes

It'd be something revolutionary, if a large group of truly independent artists banded together, each put up a set amount of money... to own everything. Charged buy-in's for new artists who wanted to have their music/video streamed, and negotiated deals with advertisers/sponsors to create a revenue stream... and opened a digital store that exclusively sold their music..and a site that hosted their videos.

but that type of cooperation and groupthink isn't exactly in tune with how many of these artists think.

It may be real but, it doesn't mean it will stay like that. I still can't believe so many people bought beats by dre headphones for so much money, and they sounded horrible for the price. They did it because stars were wearing it, and because it cost so much, they can brag like they have the best.

So yeah, a 14 year old girl might not want to pay for music, but, once she gets older, have her own money, and want to appreciate the quality of things, she will most likely spend money on music. Again, if beats by dre had everyone going nuts, buying music can happen again.

They should have put some "consious rappers" and some "struggling" indie rockers, and some "passionate true artists" who dont care about money just the art :rudy:on stage alot of the critics wouldnt have anything to say . The same people who cosigned Taylor Swifft , Aloe Blacc , Beck , and others who spoke out about streaming companys raping the artist, are now doing a 180 :heh:. ....... andd seeing kanye on stage didnt help either .This article is beyond retarded

"The argument Swift has been making is that music has inherent value; from her statements regarding Spotify to her op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, it’s a point she’s consistently made well. The argument Jay Z and his fellow stars at the Tidal launch (including Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and Beyoncé) are making is that they deserve to set the price point for their music. The supporting evidence for this claim? They want to set the price point for their music."

LMAO the message swift and jay made are one in the same
But the melanin isn't:mjpls:

Yeah this is true because before beats only two headphones had rep for people like me that's not on the Sennheiser(sp), B&o, wave and that was a pair of Bose and the $20 Sony headphones with the padding in the 90's lol. If you had one of those two you were doing it until beats dropped for most people. I have beats now and mostly because of Dre's musical prowess not athletes and celebrities. They do knock for what I normally listen too even if not technically the best and being "cool" doesn't hurt IMO.

i see no reason to try tidal at all
hell if spotify wasnt on my ps4 for free i wouldnt be using that shiit
i probably will never pay for music in my life
maybe a concert or something but an album or mixtape.....shiit like that, hell no
Dont take this as disrespect but, I don't understand this type of thinking. If everyone never pays for music, how do you think good music will stay around?

Why would someone want to learn how to make banging, progressive music, if they see no reason to do it? Money is a motivator, and when you take that out of the equation, there is very little reason to make great music. The only music being heard would be little kids music because they won't have to pay bills or buy big boy toys to live. I just think once people stopped buying music, that is exactly when the quality of music started falling off big time, for the most part. It is getting better because good artists See this as an opportunity to be heard amongst all the darkness, but, that is only a few compared to the tons of garbage that is out there. If they don't get properly compensated, they will eventually stop doing music, and there will be 500 threads complaining about the quality of music.

What you're failing to account for, is that Tidal is not Dre Beats.

How you gonna stunt with a Tidal subscription breh? I can take one look at a pair of Dre Beats and know how much they cost, and if not...i can easily google it. How is somebody supposed to know the track you're listening to cost you $19.99 a month? they gonna add some " This is a Tidal premium stream" on some DJ Drama type shyt so people know?

That 14 year old girl might spend money on music, but will she abandon all of her financial literacy skills to purchase a product like Tidal over options that pretty much do the same thing for less, or free?

People don't buy music like they used to,because there are more convenient options to acquire the music they want to listen to.

The monemt the writer started sucking off Taylor Swift, and used her as a comparable subject to what was happening, i knew it was a pice of shyt read.

Taylor Swift isnt putting bread up to stream her own shyt, so regardless of how I feel about Camel, hes doing him.

Lmao@the racism talk. Nah, this is about greedy ass CACz throwing microshares of a tech svc that has a retarded fukking business model at celebrities who are dumber than they are greedy, in this case. I should spend money on a free product because it has "cultural value"? That's the dumbest fukking con I have ever heard, in the history of time and space. That shyt makes Umar Johnson look like Bob Johnson. And all of you fake ass militants trying to defend this shyt are lying your mfkn ass off.

nikka, if Foot Locker was giving away free Foams, you mean to tell me you're going to choose to pay for them from Eastbay because Eastbay says it's products it offers have "inherent cultural value"?

Like these motherfukkers are dropping Illmatic and Songs In The Key of Life every quarter. Most of this music is borderline retarded off-key singing about some of the most vapid and sociopathic subject matter a human being could possibly conceive.

It is a stupid goddamned business model because it isn't a business model at all. It's a quick way to make some fast cash from moronically altruistic fans who would slit their wrists while jumping from a building if they were to see how their idols talk about them in A&R meetings. I am not about to pay $10 for music that is free everywhere else because Jay fukking Z has a minority share in the company. NO, nikka.

Y'all be acting like these nikkaz have Down's Syndrome, like you HAVE to support their idiotic businesses because, well, you know, Black Excellence. NO, nikka. You are offering a fukking inferior music streaming service for more money than the other moronic pay streaming srvcs and hoping people will be dumb enough to sink their cash into it before it goes belly up. GALLTHEWAYTFOH.

I don't need crack dealers trying to kick knowledge about how their music about dealing crack helping them be better than everyone on the planet has inherent cultural value that I need to financially support. Motherfukking nikka, you don't even sing. You rhyme words together over looped instrumentals. You never hit a fukking note. At least Beyonce will try n blow. Wtf I gotta be taxed to hear nikkaz talk about selling crack and spending my money on embarrassing me in the club? NO, nikka.

This is why I go in on rappers on here. It's one thing to want us to enjoy your lil talent for clever introspective rhymes. IT IS ANOTHER THING ENTIRELY to be walking around acting like Elijah Muhammad because of those rhymes. These nikkaz have not even graduated high school and they have grown men online acting like Tiger Beat Fan Club Presidents over this silly ass shyt. nikkaz can't just nod their head to the beat and pull a hoe at the bar, no they have to become insane fukking stans about these street poets.
