That is your problem. There is always a bigger target, and some targets are easier to take out than others. It's not a misdirection on their part, it's an initial step. You don't say that shutting down a prison that is exploiting prisons is pointless just because the bigger target is rewriting the laws entirely. You're somehow trying to make spotify into a casual bystander here. The labels themselves have been arguing with spotify for higher pay outs. You keep going back and forth between trying to talk about the music industry and how it was marketed to justify your dislike. Just say you dislike the way it was rolled out, which I do to and be done with it.
that's not comparable at all, these streaming services aren't exploiting anyone, artists are free to not have their music on there, and they give payouts to the label who i doubt are fighting for more royalties just to give it to their artists. i could see if these companies were posting apple and google like profits, but they're not. if streaming is such terrible burden on artists/the industry, they could have it shut down in weeks, but they're not, because minuscule revenue >> none. i have no problem with people trying to find ways to make it more profitable, but i'm also not going to sympathize with the artists for reasons i already posted.
to the last point, i have stated repeatedly that i don't like their approach for a variety of reasons, one being their simplified attack of the business models of the incumbents. i like how people are trying to tell me how i should be looking at their approach and motives....um, no, i'll dissect it for myself and respond with how i feel about it.
