Tips for aspiring rappers?

Just bought a microphone, pop filter, studio foam, got recording software. Any tips for me? I'm gonna get everything Wednesday. I wanna start recording and practicing this week and see how I'm doing. Im eager to drop a song on The Coli brehs.

Energy, write whatever you want idk I've always had a thing for poetry and rap. I grew up on old school hiphop too. I always listen to Rakim, EPMD, Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, Grandmaster flash and the furious five. Etc

I can only help if you're trying to be a Mainstream Rapper... doesn't necessarily mean you have to be commercial but you definitely need to appeal especially in this day & age...

Recording yourself isn't gonna do shyt for you because you'll be too new to Engineering & your music & mixes will sound too amateur to get take serious even compared to the other local artists. If I were you I would either find a Producer or Engineer that's local that you can meet with & discuss your vision or at least can give you reasonable rates for beats & recording... work on recording yourself & engineering on the side to get better but don't shop your own beats or mixes at this stage your ear won't be good enough...

I'd *START* there... everything will be irrelevant. An aspect a lot of people overlook when trying to get into the Music Business is that in order for you to be taken serious as a Professional Artist your shyt has to be... PROFESSIONAL...
