Get rich first then rap if you wanna be successful.

Rule 1: Don't expect to get rich/successful. If you love it you will do it anyway.

I think this is the key

It really just depends on what your endgame is. Don't just say "I wanna rap" have some set goals on what you want to do and go directly for those goals.

My and my potnas started rapping back in 09' but we were trying to get famous. We were just tired of all the bullshyt on the radio and thought we could make dope songs. Well we did and it was honestly some of the best times of my life, writing, thinking of hooks, concepts and shyt like that and some of it came out dope. We got to perform a few times and put couple of songs on a few local mixtapes.

I wasn't intrested in spamming people on forums, twitter with links of my shyt and doing all that. We just enjoyed riding around listening to music we created and I still be riding around bumping that shyt to this day. If somebody wanted a CD or one of us to do a verse we were down.

I guess in the big scheme of things we didn't "Blow Up" but its cool to know we actually did the shyt and had fun doing it.

Word man. Once things fall into a place a little more I'll network more and all that. If I don't get greatly successful idc. I'll still make music.. I just love to do it. I really wanna do this but at the same time I'm gonna keep a job, have a life finish college.
