Yall kno any good tips or resources to help get ur vocab and jus general mastery of the English language up?
Im also interested in idioms and expressions n shyt I suck at those

I argued with white supremacists online, non-stop from age 12. Back in those days it seemed like you had to have the BEST vocabulary and ZERO grammatical or syntax errors to be taken seriously. Now a days everything seems a bit "dumbed down" online compared to how it used to be.

I also watched a lot of "boring" TV growing up. Politically Incorrect, O'Reilly Factor, A LOT of CSPAN Book TV and endless CNN. All that programming will definitely increase your vocab. It can make you *hate* Black people though. TV is poison in that way.

These days, however I listen to a lot of Neely Fuller, Jason Black, and Tariq Nasheed. Tariq isn't so heavy on the vocab but The Black Channel is a good guide to learn how to speak eloquently with authority and conviction without sounding childish or stupid. I listen to a lot of NPR as well.


I also keep it short when speaking with people that aren't... hmmm... up to speed with what I'm putting out. If I have to dumb myself down too much to chill then we can't chill.

You have to READ... hell, I've read and copied the entire dictionary at least three times in my life breh. Go out and speak to people who use advanced linguistics as well. And, most importantly, you have to actually USE the words you learn... you can't be shook to fukk up a meaning or something, just start using the verbiage.

I wrote a lot growing up.

Notebooks upon notebooks filled with rhymes.

You'll notice when you start to use the same word over and over again. It got boring and uninspired. So...

I'd go straight to a thesaurus and look up synonyms. That helped tremendously.

I also read a ton.

The last few years I've averaged between 15-35 books a year. One year I read 50. People tell me all the time that I'm well spoken. You won't even realize you're doing it.
