Considering I said the medical professionals in my local running club, that should trump you just going to see a doctor and him or her telling you to lay off the concrete.

Medical professionals who run multiple marathons a year

or

Medical professional

Stretch and cop some "corney" new balances. To really get a kick , jump rope for 3 mins after every mile.

I admit that I sound pretty arrogant, ass-holish about it but I the very first thing I stated about running is the amount of misinformation. Sorry that I take a sport I've dedicated the bulk of my life to serious. Running is different from many sport because it is run by "couch to 5k" types or walkers who are doing it for a cause. I don't have a problem with that at all. The more money being raised for cancer research or the more people out there trying to get healthy is a great thing.

What I do have a problem with is the misinformation coming from people. :yeshrug: I run into this everyday. Someone always introduces me as "the co-worker who runs" then that person goes on and on about their "running" and proceeds to offer me training advice. :rudy: It's nauseating.

Look at all the post in here? Everyone completely ignored the OP's specific needs. Telling the guy to go out and get Vibrams:snoop:

Telling the guy to not run on concrete? :snoop:

These are all things YOU do. I wouldn't tell him to train like ME because that would end in disaster at his current fitness level. And Bernard Lagat wouldn't tell me to train like him because I am not at his fitness level. It's annoying man. Go over to "Letsrun.com" and tell them not to run on concrete because of shin splints and you will get banned, rightfully so.

What about those foot-shaped shoes that grip ya feet?

Vibram five finger toe shoes.....love them. Use them to run and for my leg exercises....takes a while to get used to it, but no more shin splints. :myman:

running outside is different than treadmill. the treadmill has no changes in pace or any hills. whereas running outside, you have to deal with weather, wind, inclines etc.

I prefer running outside, and only run inside in the WORST of the WORST weather. I'm talking temperatures below 15 degrees and what not.

when I run treadmill, I can pretty easily run 5 miles and do 8:15 per minute mile pace. however, when I run outside, my times go up to around 8:45 per mile. like I said, when ur outside and there's snow on the ground and wind to deal with, its gonna make u go much slower.
