I do some treadmill running, but all the treadmills at my gym feel like the belt is "slipping"
Is there a way around this?
I'd probably take it up with the gym managers, if you think it's a potential hazard. Or slow down.

I run a lot....here is some advice
Veggie juice before runs
Never drink or eat protein before runs, no homo you will get the shyts
try some new balance running shoes I buy mine at Sports Authority for $40 dollars
run up hills even though it sucks it will build endurance ten fold.
Try doing to runs a day morning 5:30 am or 6:00 am and a light night jog 6:30 or 7:00
legs are still muscles
plus i never get the "shyts" from running, sounds like bad ingestion system

Stay away from concrete try to run on grass, shin splints are no joke

Like I said OP. The reason why people don't run is because it's boring and the amount of misinformation being given by people who don't know what they are talking about. Most people consider running 5 miles an achievement of some sort. Then you have the cross-fit guys who do shuttle sprints and that's the extent of their running.
AGAIN YOU DO NOT GET SHIN SPLINTS FROM RUNNING ON A PARTICULAR SURFACE. YOU GET SHIN SPLINTS FROM DOING TOO MUCH TOO FAST. YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO GET SHIN SPLINTS FROM RUNNING ON AN UNEVEN SURFACE SUCH AS GRASS THAN CONCRETE. IF YOU ARE MADE OF PLAY-DOH AND CONCRETE IS TOO MUCH, JUST HIT THE TREADMILL WHERE THE SURFACE IS CONSISTENT.
Tight Achilles and calf muscles.
An inexperienced runner just beginning to run.
Running on uneven terrain.
A sudden increase in faster running (speed work).
A sudden change from soft to hard running surfaces.
Running in worn down shoes.
Excessive uphill running.
Poor running mechanics which include excessive forward lean, excessive weight on the ball of the foot, running with toes pointed outward, landing too far back on the heels causing the foot to flap down, and over-pronation.
That's why I told you to take it slow. If you take someone who's never ran before and suddenly had them running 30-40 miles a week, that person is going to get injured and slow progress. It's no different if you took someone who's never benched before and had them attempt to lift 225LBS. INJURY. It's really that simple.
ok bro you can believe this if you wantShin splints are not caused strictly by running on cement.

Let us know since you seem to have some information that we don't.
Medical professionals have also told me the opposite, but before this descends in to 'my dad is better than your dad' back and forths, we believe in different things and lets leave it at that................
