Nothing wrong with what she said.

Speaking as someone who was robbed at gunpoint by a Super Predator, and with friends/family who were shot and killed by Super Predators I fully support her comments.
I don't have an extreme reaction, but it's just not something you should say considering who the bill ultimately affected. The words on their own really aren't that bad, but in hindsight either the bill was crafted poorly and didn't just affect super predators or she considered most blacks as super predators even when they were committing small crime.

the title says low black turnout cost clinton the election :leostare:
Of course it does, it's the clickbait era. This is how you get people to read. There are 3 other articles on this subject that say the same thing with different titles.
(1) "Why did Trump win? More whites — and fewer blacks — actually voted."
(2) "A 2016 Review: Turnout Wasn’t the Driver of Clinton’s Defeat."

This is just the most recent article from a black writer trying to make the point that black people don't fukk with Democrats nearly as much as people claimed and a lot of that Obama support was based on personal affinity. He links to articles where black people in Milwaukee talk about how their lives didn't change under a black president so what's the point. Another dude said he did/would vote in Sanders. That's the point. They neglected the Midwest all around.

got a call for three nines
I love that you guys think we don't like The Clintons because of emails, but ignore the laundry list of stuff that made her unelectable in the first place.

I'm (also other Americans) sick of The Clintons and other recycled politicians who do nothing but live like fat cats off the backs of Americans. The Clintons are everything wrong with the political system.

Trump is better. Got it. /

A final point, please don't take this to mean that I think we need some cataclysmic intra party war - that will only help the GOP. And that will only hurt the country. But people need to understand that there is an active effort by the mainstream within the party, that wants to remain more centrist and beat back the populist/progressive wave, to subtly shift blame for the loss away from the central characters and their underlying political positions. They know black voters are extremely loyal to the party; and because black voters have little to no expectations even of the Dems, they know that even if they push this narrative that if only black people had turned out in 16 like they did in 08 and 12 that we wouldn't be dealing with a pres. trump, that we are not going to turn away from the Party. In other words, we can safely be blamed without a significant loss in votes.

And not surprisingly, neither of these presumably highly educated writers have the self awareness to make the connection between the barber's statement that "no president in his lifetime, INCLUDING (my emphasis), had significantly improved the lives of black people" and why black people in states where their governments are actively taking measures to take away their right to vote and where even when they DO turnout and elect Democrats, they still feel like their lives are not improving, might suffer from a "lack of enthusiasm."

Dope post overall, but this part in particular was on point.

I think the big elephant in the room is they get like 7 choices and we get 2. Our turnout would be higher too if we had Trump, Clinton, Sanders, Kasich and Cruz all on the same ballot...

While there is some voter suppression, it's not really making a dent in our overall turnout. Certainly not to the tune of 20% points. The voter suppression we have is mainly tied to "safe" states: people not bothering to vote in states that aren't competitive. That far outweighs suppression from voter ID laws or w/e people like complaining about.
