Winning matches clean or not doesn't make or break a heel champ. Seth's run as champ has ultimately been a flop because the dude just isn't ready. He's basically been what people assumed Roman would be. Just unpolished on the mic, and coming off a level below everyone he's working around. Trips, Steph, and Jamie Noble have routinely come off as the bright spot in all those promo segments. And his work in-ring has, as it's always been in his career, really hit or miss.Plus the Dean feud ended with him getting a clean W. It was as close as possible to keep Dean looking good, but he straight up beat him.

I think the Eagle was after he lost it. But his reign was awful all around. Awful promos, awful buildups, awful opponents, etc.

Bruh, heels don't win clean, and they shouldn't. It's the oldest fukking convention in wrestling. Exactly who did Hollywood Hogan beat clean? Corporate Rock? Evolution HHH beat people clean and look how terrible that run was. Every great heel in wrestling "won like a p*ssy" that's why you boo them. And no, his mic work has not been good. It's been the definition of mediocre. He's had the belt for four months and doesn't have a single promo he can hang his hat on despite getting more time to talk than anyone week to week.
It has everything to do with not being ready.
The Rock couldn't get clean wins over fukking Mick Foley (and even lost to him

Seth has only really worked as a face where he doesn't have to be compelling on the mic, he can just keep it short and say shyt that pops the crowd, and go out in the ring and hit all his big spots and get people into him that way.
Dean was the one known for heel mic work, and Seth was the one known for doing insane things that got the people behind him, and WWE pushed them in roles opposite to what their strengths are.
Seth has been called the next Jeff Hardy since he was 19, and they really had him out here trying out a HHH impression
Every great moment Seth has had in the WWE has involved some huge spot. That =/= a corporate heel champ. He absolutely doesn't have the charisma or the presence to pull this off. He never has, and he hasn't shown it now.
