I’m reading some of these comments with posters saying they’ve never heard anyone say this. Well, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, it means that you need to pay closer attention. A Black woman not needing a man is something that’s BEEN promoted in music, movies, social media, magazines, etc. You guys can’t be serious. There’s no other race of women detached from their men than Americanized Black women, and it’s by choice, theirs. There’s Essence magazine for instance, it’s about promoting the Black woman, not Black families. Again, “you don’t need a Black man, you’ll be okay”. Matter of fact, where were the mainstream magazines/periodicals promoting the Balck man or black Family? No where. Welfare demanded that the Black father cannot be present in the household if the wife/mother wanted the funds. What happened? He had to leave and that help promote the “I don’t need a man” and “I can do bad all by myself”,life style that carries on until today. Y’all better watch the 70’s movie, “Claudine”. So for anyone to say they’ve never heard this, get into the real world and step out of your little “circle”. Your eyes can pick up what your ears have missed.

Half of black woman will never be married in the U.S. Also, when polled black women many black women said they weren't looking for long term relationships.

Becuase it’s not really an option. A lot of us are forced to think this way because of reality.

You got this whole ass jailbird that left his family to fend for themselves, probably asking for money and shyt and wondering why black women don’t need him. Ain’t got shyt to offer. You don’t get to have a good number or black men going jail, under educated and under employed and still be in awe when black women out here getting it on their own. Some of y’all arent needed. Deal with it.

These nikkas need to leave the house more because ive heard many on that same tip.

I also literally just watched a video where some guy interviewed women of all races, expect black, and many of them said they don't. Need a man. They wanted one and liked men but didnt need them.

You can thank the American prison complex and insatiable desire to seperate black men from their families for decades for minor offenses.

If you are forced to grow up without the most important man in your life, i can see someone adapting a mindset like thjs.

I dont agree but more understandable and nuanced than simply "black women are the only race of women who hate their men." Thats an ignorant take imo, but let the gender wars commence i guess

He’s right,, but he should have expanded on it by saying thanks to the c00ns and white executives in Hollywood who have films where black women say this which affects most black women in the real world now, has the black community all fukked up and many of these sisters lonely and damage..

Also blame those sisters on radio who watch those films and come back and blast it on air...

I don't know if you watched the same thing. But it was clear the older women said they needed a man

Specifically at 6:20 both women said they need men when it came to emotional connections and family building.

The younger women were talking in terms if sex and fun.

Two different things

When people say black women say they don't need a man, isn't it general knowledge they're talking about family building and not sex?

So why compare the opinion of young white women, who aren't talking about family building but sex and fun, with black women who are talking about family?

Yep.... black women only like a small group of black men... the rest are invisible to them.... if you took skin color out of it, they are just like white women... privileges and all...... they aren't for the regular black guy..... and they truly feel they are superior to us...... just like whites.....

No one said they haven't heard the statement in media circles and as propaganda talking points. You can miss me with all watch movies, music, social media - if you let outside factors control or disseminate the message for you - that's on you. That does not apply to me, my family or any other female on here that stated it has not been their experience. Just because culture dictates the characteristics of black females - said cultural does not dictate my opinions, values or experiences in reference to black men. Black women need strong black males within the community - I am avid supporter of that. Idgaf what "counter" culture says - if you choose to let mainstream dictate your mentality, you lost already. I see what they say and the message they try to promote; a strong black family bond between legit intelligent black men and women is their worst fear. No one eyes are closed; doesn't mean that I (we) have to listen. I grew up with a father, when my father was working or taking care of us, my brothers stepped in to help and provide guidance- I have never lacked black male leadership in the home, now with the next generation - neither will they. No one I know is without proper male guidance or a male presence in their lives, black men provide the foundation, black women assist with the structure. Neither can function without each other. The mainstream news or government sources are not the authority within black homes; they nor you can dictate my reality to me. Not everyone is on welfare, on the system, or some dysfunction. You sound like a defeatist anyway, I'm a realist - you can't control my or any other women that commented in here about their experiences or perceptions.

Most of us (I think all of us) said that we need men, women that we know, don't agree that we don't need them, we do not feel the same as the OP topic and you're acting like you have a problem with us stating that we value relationships with black men in supporting them in working to unify. It's like you want to push a false narrative for the sake of dissension.

I sound like a defeatist? No I’m just pointing out what been laid out to US. I’m not trying to control anything, just giving my opinion. Seems like you’re taking my post personal. What’s with the character attacks? I would like to talk more about this but I see where you are going. :pachaha:
