You missed the point. I'm not tryna highlight his divorce. I'm just saying that after he and his wife divorce, he filed child support on himself and pushed for visitation rights.


That's all Future had to do. When they both realized that they werent gonna be together, Future should have immediately threw himself on child support and got visitation rights.

My cousin's situation is just as fukked up. She's so afraid to let her youngest son see his father becuz there have been times where he doesn't want to give him back. All of this shyt can be avoided if you just handle the shyt legally.

But you also have to realize that heading to a court is the recommended last course of action. That's why I said a divorce is different. You have to go through the courts to initiate and complete a divorce. With an OOW child, it's always recommended that both parents set up and agree to a co-parenting schedule, go through a legal mediator to settle any disputes, then take their grievances to court if it can't be settled.

You can go to court straight away with an OOW, but you're just going to get killed with fees that don't go towards raising the child. On top of that, if there is no pattern or dispute, or history of co-parenting, what is the judge going to base their decision off of - state law, which is automatically skewed toward the mother in most cases, and the child's age. At least if you attempt to co-parent, the judge may (huge may) rule in your favor if she has exhibited a history of broken promises and careless finances.

Future has legal options and more than enough money to pursue them to their fullest extent. There's fathers who are in much worse situations who don't have any where near the options that he has.
If he chooses to distance himself from his own flesh and blood because he just wants to complain and not avail himself of those options, or because he has other kids who's moms kiss his ass that is completely and totally on him.

I will save my sympathy for non custodial parents who deserve it.

BUT that don't make it any easier!

Luckily a few(like myself) can make the time crunch work but it's sooooooo easy for feelings to get hurt
