Yeah, its a mass surveillance ethno state that will compete for global talent with Canda/Europe/Australia even if the USA magically stops getting if the new policy sticks.
They are far behind the 8 ball in regards to immigration so odd to see (not really because propaganda) this being lauded at some stroke of genius.

The systems are not as different as they appear. It is just who picks the winners and losers. Do you trust government party officials or government oligarchs officials? Both systems run a hybrid capitalist/socialist strategy.
The difference is that China has forward thinkers who are intent on driving their Country forward without being encumbered by religion. America has backwards thinkers that are intent on driving their Country backwards. Think about what the fools in America are doing. They are actually fighting science, mostly because idiots are unable to reconcile science with their bronze age religious beliefs. So here we are.

However, certain specializations like for example someone who works on a specific type of research or groundbreaking tech and science, the current admin is fukking that up too and where we are losing. Other countries including China are grabbing those people up as well.

Basically if you have very special skills and talents I personally see no reason we shouldn’t encourage their immigration here. But if it’s just because some corporation wants an exploitable workforce, that that should discouraged.
Also I'm sure China only wants the top immigrants from Ivy League schools. Not the hoards of dummies doing grunt work IT labor in the US at body shops.
Thats speculation and to be seen what that specific niche of talent will do. Europe/Australia/Canada/China/Japan/etc all certainly hope so.

Trump admin has been cutting research grants left and right and other universities in other countries are coming to these people who relied on that and saying “we will fund you to continue your work” and many of these people are taking up their offers.

There is no data on who has left and where they might leave to.
Money is what attracts people to America. If China creates a school to job pipeline that pays comparably accounting for cost of living standards of the West they may have a way to attract top talent.
