"While I'm watchin every nikka watchin me closely
My shyt is butter for the bread they wanna toast me
I keep my head, both of them where they supposed to be
Hoes'll get you sidetracked then clapped from close feet"- Can I Live

" had to hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles
Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent
Gotta vent, lot of innocent of lives lost on the project bench
Whatchu hollerin? Gotta pay rent, bring dollars in
By the bodega, iron under my coat, feelin braver
Doo-rag wrappin my waves up, pockets full of hope
Do not step to me - I'm awkward, I box leftier often
My pops left me an orphan, my momma wasn't home
Could not stress to me I wasn't grown; 'specially on nights
I brought somethin home to quiet the stomach rumblings
My demeanor - thirty years my senior
My childhood didn't mean much, only raisin green up"-Renegade

There's more to lyrical ability then multiplysyllabic rhyming. I was once told that the best writers say more with less. Once you apply that concept
you realize jay is on another level. He does it so smooth and effortless too

This isn't a troll thread by any means, such an assertion might be the result of misplaced sensitivity

I appreciate you sharing those lyrics, lyrically I don't see anything impressive there at all
:dead: at any emo tupac stan talking about misplaced sensitivity

flow with no cut.
You take it in "vein" to the brain.
Mufukkas is noddin' and throwin up.
You made me wanna listen to that shyt now.

"I don't floss no more
I just SIT on my money 'til I'm ABOVE the law...."

Simply stated, yet cleverly crafted. It's precisely THAT type of wordplay that @Harry B is talmbout...that's the brilliance of Jay-Z as a lyricist.

I just hate that he DID dumb it down....but even a more recent song like "Thank You" proves that the nikka ain't lost it lyrically at all, WHEN he actually TRIES to rhyme.

honestly that "Nodding and Throwing up" double entendre was something I didn't even catch til last week.

I was at work reciting the Reservoir Dogs verses out loud, recited that part and stopped like

it's just so effortless. It's pure slick talk.

I was saying this about somebody like Lupe's wordplay and Hov's.

Lupe, and a lot of rappers, you're braced to hear the punchlines. You're still entertained but you're expecting them.

Hov, you don't even know you been hit with a punchline til later. Even years later.

Another Jigs cop out tactic...

Basically,...

shyt is some bullshyt cause why are you worried about ear hustling on somebody else's convo or interaction to begin with.
This is some culture thief deflection tactics.

Is that Horse? It must be i heard he husky
You know . . before the "I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars" was put into play

I greatly enjoy Reasonable Doubt but I never considered anything in it to be lyrically impressive. So I'm wondering what examples come to mind when you think of impressive lyrics from Jay and was he more noted for his lyrical ability or the content of work
I'm just gonna school you a bit now

''My shyt is butter for the bread they wanna toast me"

''Got the US/Open, advantage Jigga, serve like Sampras''

''Clear the way, I'm here to stay
Y'all can save the chitter chat, this and that

This is Jay, dissing Jay will get you maced
When I start spitting them lyrics nikkas get very religious
Six Hail Mary's please Father forgive us

Young, the archbishop, the Pope John Paul of y'all nikkas
They way y'all all follow Jigga

Hov's a living legend and I'll tell you why
Everybody wanna be Hov and Hov's still alive''

''Murder is a tough thing to digest, it's a slow
process, and i ain't got nothin' but time''

These Jay hating nikkaz in the thread is like: "Yo i got a 4.0, what's the difference between a 4.0 and a 4.6?"
Like 30-40 grand, cocksucker beat it :camby:

Do them shyts even got leathers? :scusthov:
