It bugs me how defensemen are used offensively. It also bugs me that teams are committed to three forwards and two defensemen. I don't understand why the game hasn't evolved and someone says: "I'm just putting my five best guys out here and everyone will be able to attack and defend."
Or, if my defensemen attacks the crease, a forward might have to rotate back and become a defensemen.
Why are teams still adamant that defensemen stay around the blue line (besides a couple guys like Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes)?
It's stupid and yeah sports evolve but the NHL stats adamant. Only on the pp do you see like 4 forwards out there.
