fukk the Raleigh Hurricanes...

Educate me please. Wasn't the playoff format changed when the pandemic hit? What is the format now, and is there any possibility of it going back to 1-8 seeds?

It started in 2013 I believe. 2020 they just threw something together for Covid.

It’s 4 divisions in hockey, 2 per conference.
The 4 division winners play 4 wildcard teams.
The remaining 8 teams (those who finished 2nd & 3rd in their divisions) play each other. It’s a divisional playoff format that nobody likes. With this dumb ass format, matchups that would usually be a conference final are played in the first two rounds.

It was changed the year following the lockout in 2013. When the Thrashers were relocated to Winnipeg, it caused a massive realignment where Detroit and Columbus moved to the East and the divisions when from 3 dvisions of 5 teams to two divisions. They put this format for most divisional rivalries and less travel (especially in the West). The problem is though boring rematches (LA vs EDM) and divisions aren’t equal. You have strong divisions like the Central and Atlantic. But Metro and Pacific are weaker divisions. The Oilers are contenders, but Canes showed they benefited from playing weaker teams.

Feel like we didn't deserve to win that game at all.

Edmonton choked that more than Dallas won it. Fortunate W but I'm still very worried about the Stars. Oilers looked like they were continuing their dominance from last year's WCF up until the outlier 3rd period.

Seeing that Thrashers avi and I start thinking about some of the talent the Thrashers had.

Kovalchuk, Heatley, Hossa, and Savard. :wow: .

bytch ass owners didn’t give a fukk about the team and did what they could to sabotage them to sell. If we had an owner who cared with that core of Heatley & Kovalchuk, they’d still be here

Death, taxes and the Canes not having enough.

I don't know how miserable Moose was or if he was causing issues in the locker room but they woulda been better served just riding it out instead of panicking and immediately flipping him.
