You know how many hoodrats I know who move to the burbs(not even high end ones) because they "want to leave the hood" not realizing that the place they live in now in 10 years is going to be nicer with more value than the suburb they're moving to which is deteriorating every day.

That's why I shake my head at nikkaz who sell their shyt in these areas being gentrified for cheap and turn around and get an apartment. Take them for every dollar you can!

But with this, we didn't own the fukking project so no need to be "mad" about it. Ain't no "OUR" when the city/gubment owns the property.

And sadly I think that's the mentality of most Project residents. Not just in Chicago but most places. to quote Rich Boy "They tore down our project's/so where we gone move next". A lot of people are really under the impression that housing projects are permanent rather than temporary.

Most people in the hood are complacent as fuk and think welfare is a way of life instead of using it as a way to help you when you are down until you can Come Up

My cousin was diagnosed with bipolar and they offerd him ssi . I told that nikka don't do it because it will cause you to get to comfortable and not strive as hard to be self sufficient getting money for doing nothing.

Have some pride and know that you are better than that and don't need handouts from white people

at what point are we going to stop complaining and start working together and building wealth? In reality All whites arnt doing good, and most are poor. We just need more of the people who actually do make it to start giving back and investing to build decent black areas, or at least black businesses etc so more people can have a chance. I admit, living in chicago, its no hope for most of these people though. And they are doing this all over the city, not just with the blacks. pilsen and humboldt park are almost all white now too.

Before you invest, you got get the people to stop destroying and take pride in there dwellings instead. They take pride in the wrong things. How hard their hood is and nonsense. It's silly for anyone to invest in areas with high crime and drugs. Not really silly because you gon make bread but it's still a shythole. Nothing will change until the people change.

Ten years ago, Cabrini-Green was best known for its notoriously struggling public housing project of the same name. Today, it's becoming something of a goldmine for developers who have planned new, luxury high rises for the Near North Side area not far from where the dilapidated public housing towers once stood.



One of the first new developments to spring up from around Cabrini-Green's demolition rubble is Xavier, a sleek, 18-story, eco-friendly building, which is now accepting tenant applications at sky-high rental prices. Studios in the 625 W. Division St. tower start at $1,825 a month, according to listings; one bedrooms start at $2,300, and two bedrooms start at $3,275.

The units boast such amenities as Nest Thermostats, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and exposed concrete ceilings. The building's shared spaces include a rooftop with a chef's kitchen and two dog runs. It sounds divine—if you have the income for it.

With Chicago in the midst of a housing crisis we can't help but see the promises of these luxury developments coinciding with the displacement of Chicago's working class and the hastening demise of its affordability for anyone making less than $72,000 a year (that's how much you'd have to make to reasonably afford a studio apartment at $1,825 a month, based on this popular rental formula).

Not surprised by the costs

Lincoln park hosts a lot of rich cacs, and there's a nearby high school that's pretty good too. It's literally accessible to everywhere
Best location in the city. I live a block away

Cabrini Green is located on the north side of Chicago and those prices are pretty standard for a luxury apartment.
