It would be masterful if the Pats were able to sign Jimmy G in the offseason during free agency after fleecing the Niners for the draft pick. Have Jimmy sit for one more yr then hand him the reins

Brady is taking hits already,I doubt he goes out like Montana on Chiefs. If it came between Beli and Brady,Kraft is picking Brady, now that I believe.Brady has 2 years left at most of being top tier QB.I do think Brady is happy Jimmy is gone.

And he'd be silly to do so. This isn't meant to take away from Brady, but :beli: has been the one constant of this team's prolonged success. Cassel, Mallet, Hoyer, Brissett, and now Garoppolo; Beli has won games with backups and/or gotten those backups jobs on other teams that they inevitably proved they didn't deserve

True and you have a point. However owners care about who is making $.Beli Is a great coach but let Pats trade Brady and see how fanbase will turn.If Beli called Kraft bluff he could be replaced with McDaniels or someone,an NFL owner is obviously more powerful then a coach.Beli has power as coach/GM but Kraft/Brady can't be replaced.

No doubt Kraft has the power. But I would think Kraft would be smart enough to realize you bank on the long term money vs the money you can definitely make right now. Tom Brady might be the all-time face of New England sports (which is saying a lot). If I asked a fan which are they more comfortable: a new QB or a new head coach, I'd be surprised if they said they head coach.

:dead: crazy thing is this is a move Dan Snyder would make
Our defense (when healthy) currently has been beastly. Ranked 8th in defense yet we've played the #2 offense (KC), the #3 offense (Philly) twice, and the #11 (Dallas) and #12 (Rams) offense. Only giving up 217 pass yards a game with Norman missing like half our games. You give us Brady and a WR, the league is so wide open we'd compete for the SB.

I just can't see Beli trading Brady
No way, no how

It also ain't a Beli move to trade Jimmy G. Remember, he kept Brady and Bledsoe on the same squad to play whom he thought was his best option. This now means the Pats won't have the continuity they were supposed to have after Beli left. Jimmy was his next one.

Brady say behind Bledsoe for one year. There was no demand for Brady his rookie year or year two before Bledsoe got injured. Once Beli had two QB's with starting QB value he traded Bledsoe to Buffalo.

Exactly. He got rid of the old guy (Bledsoe) to keep the team going with the younger cat (Brady). He's done the same thing with other players in other positions. Selling early on older players has always been Beli's move. If he was truly about trading Jimmy then he wouldn't have traded Jacoby earlier this year and end up with Tom's backup being Brian Hoyer (who just got benched for CJ Beathard). This would be Jimmy's 1st year behind Tom as a potential starting QB. Future wise they would've been better off doing the true Beli move of trading Tom to his hometown squad (SF) and rolling with the young kid.
