And second, as the world become more closely integrated because of technology, yeah you work with people who work in different countries. Go across the border to work in Canada and you’ll find a whole section of the country speaking French. So if you want to be a black architect or interior designer getting more work by speaking with them in their language will help you.

Historically, immigrants lost all connections to their customs when they left their countries. International calls or even a home phone cost money immigrants didn't have. Letters took months.

In 21st Century America, you can download Sesame Street in Spanish and French for your babies.
In 21st century America, you can FaceTime/skype your 80 year old Romanian granny who doesn't speak English while sitting in a Starbucks and

Nothing about being bilingual stops a person from succeeding in a doctor, lawyer, or public servant in modern America.

A lot of whites don’t realize the amount of Hispanics who do speak English, but prefer to speak Spanish in public, because they don’t want others to know what they are saying. The same thing goes for Asians.

They can talk shyt, and people don’t know what they’re saying. I’ve even met European immigrants who speak their native language to prevent others from knowing what they’re saying.
