Sounds like his wife gave up on the family to me. She knew who he was when she married him. Football is a part of him. And she needs to play her part as wife and support him. His kids are almost grown and they probably love seeing him ball out every week. What is he supposed to be sitting at home doing exactly? The fact that she would even try to make his last season of his goat career about her tells me everything I need to know about her.

exactly. This same woman would leave him a year after he retired anyway as most athletes wives do after they retire and the spotlight aint as big. Never sacrifice your happiness for anyone. It would be one thing if Tom wasnt playing at a high level and fell off. But he could play another few years if he wanted. Imagine working your whole life to be the Goat at your sport and NOT going out and retiring on your own terms if you had the option.
